@DanRiehl Update

by Smitty

I went by and saw Dan Riehl in the Inova Fairfax ICU.

Dan has worked harder than most (e.g., me) on the effort to tear down the walls of the mainstream media Jericho over the last few years. You have to drop names like that of the late, lamented Andrew Breitbart to name somebody who was working harder on the restoration of the country.  Multitudes of folks echo the current news (and don’t stop; we make an important chorus) but Dan was a maker of news. His contacts and investigative skills (of which I had the merest glimmer of insight) allowed him to dig up crucial facts on a host of stories (go see Hating Breitbart for just one example).

Dan is a true leader, mentoring those who will listen, flogging relentlessly those who will not. I’ve no idea what the medical bill will be like for a few days in the Intensive Care Hotel, but it can’t be cheap. My intention is to swing by tomorrow, around noon, after doing some door knocking for the campaign. Hopefully, he’ll be conscious, so that I can take a picture. Do consider his tip jar, as you are able. I’ll have to wait until next week, after the mortgage has cleared, myself.

Oh Lord, pour out some grace on Dan and heal him. Fully. Soon. So that we can gather at Shelly’s Back Room after the election, for all Dan may eschew partaking of the combustibles.

Update: thanks, Instapundit and A Time for Choosing.

Thanks for the update. A good point was made in the comments about someone needing the keys to our sites in case something happens, so everyone who has a trusted blogger friend should consider sharing info. Not only the blog sites, but the twitter accounts too, to protect them.

Will drop something in his Tip Jar, and prayers for his recovery.

  • Zilla of the Resistance

Jeez. I am so sorry to see that Dan is so very ill! May God bless, protect and heal him, fully and quickly!

In other news, I am home – still fragile, but home.

  • Linda

    Sending prayers your way, Dan!

Prayers of health and healing for Dan. I cannot contribute to the tip jar, as I am an unemployed mom of 3 with breast cancer medical bills of my own. But I do know the power of prayer and the miracles it brings, so I’m lifting them up for Dan.

This is the worst time financially for me, as I am moving. But if I can donate a dollar, and everyone who wants to help donates a dollar, that will add up. Finally, THROUGH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. I just wish God would send me an email rather than using life to teach me. But I want to say that trusting God and praying will do the most that can be done.

I just did a stint in the hospital with a heart arrhythmia Quit smoking the next day. It’s been two months now and my last ECG said my heart was good…just mild pulmonary hypertension. (I had been a 2 pk a day smoker for over 35 years.)

Still sending prayers out to Dan.

  • Taxpayer1234

Whoa! How does something like that happen?

  • Taxpayer1234

You’ve done more than enough. Surely Dan and his family welcome your prayers.

  • Taxpayer1234

Dan’s tip jar hit. I’m looking at two ginormous hospital bills–my husband’s recent surgery and my daughter just got out of hospital Thursday–but I scraped a few bucks together for Dan. He is one of the very, very good guys!!!!!

  • Joan Of Argghh!

Overworked, under-rested and thinking he was just sick, school clinic thinking he was just “stressed” from mid-terms. Almost lost him. They pulled a ton of fluid from his lung via needle. Keep praying for Dan!

  • Taxpayer1234

So glad to hear it, Zilla. Also praying for your full recovery.

  • Sheik Yerbouti

Hey…I had the same thing. Well, amost…if you count “stress” as a knife, and “school” as a psychopathic woman twice my age.

  • Coleen Trusley

Thanks for your service sir. All military are the unsung heroes including you. I cannot add to the jar but I will add a prayer for him. It is all in the Lords hands.

  • dmacleo

    same here.
hoping the prayers help him and his family.

  • joethefatman

Srsly? That’s some kinda story! Why don’t you blog it? :o)

  • Sheik Yerbouti

19 years old, biker bar, chick fight. Six days in the hospital (for me), twenty years in prison for Gracie (whose son I attended school with).
    Alcohol was involved.

  • Sheik Yerbouti

…and I did blog it – or at least posted the whole hilarious thing probably twelve years ago. It is quite a story.

  • Red47

Get him to put it on your blog and we can all come visit 🙂

  • Sheik Yerbouti

Duh! Good idea, Red. Now where’d Joan get to?

  • jwallin

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom and the Glory and the Power, Forever and ever.

Please shine your light of mercy and grace upon our friend Daniel Riehl. If it be Thy will please heal him and return him to his friends and family.

In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

  • Bob Belvedere

That would be one Helluva morale booster for Dan, that’s for sure.
