Damn It, Jim, I’m a Blogger!

OK, so Pete Da Tech Guy wrote a post about loyalty, citing the persistence of my gratitude toward Alyssa Milano for an RT in September 2010. Pete recalled that he had his own celebrity Twitter moment, a Tweet from William Shatner. (Eat your heart out, Jonah Goldberg!)
At the end of his post, Pete mentioned that he was still $370 short of his fundraising goal, and I was trying to think: How can we fix that?
Of course, Pete is famously Sicilian and naturally my mind started turning in that direction . . .
Hmmm, @datechguyblog is still $370 short on his fund-raising drive.datechguyblog.com/2013/01/05/sta… Who do we know who might help?

If only there were some nice Italian girl who might do a favor for a fellow, eh? @datechguyblog

@datechguyblog This is good advice! RT @alyssa_milano Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

Wow! I forgot @datechguyblog got RT’d by @williamshatner!datechguyblog.com/2012/07/14/sha… Maybe @alyssa_milano next?
— Robert Stacy McCain (@rsmccain) January 6, 2013
Speaking of which, does @williamshatner know @alyssa_milano? If not, you should say “hi” to each other. @datechguyblog

About 40 minutes passed and then . . .
@rsmccain I follow @alyssa_milano and she follows me. Her tweets are delightful and informative. We exchange pleasantries every so often.
— William Shatner (@WilliamShatner) January 6, 2013
How awesome is that? Not only did I get a Tweet from Captain James Tiberius Kirk, but it turns out he’s Twitter buddies with Alyssa!
Remember, however, that this happened because of Pete’s inspirational thoughts about loyalty, and there’s still his fundraiser to worry about, so please go hit Da Tip Jar.
As for me, I must keep pressing onward, to explore new Twitter frontiers, to boldly go where no blogger has gone before . . .
OK, first I got Alyssafied, now I’ve been Shatnerized twitter.com/WilliamShatner… You guys know any Kardashians? @williamshatner @alyssa_milano

Have we sunk so low we need to hit up the Unspeakable Armenian and her clan of attention-whoring ne’er-do-wells?

What’s with the anti-Armenian vibe here, Wombat? Are you some kind of Turk, or just anti-Kardashian?

“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”
Great wisdom… but I still doubt that I will breakdown and start Tweeting.

@rsmccain Should have stopped he was ahead. He shames us all with the blasphemy of House Kardashian. @williamshatner @alyssa_milano @smitty_one_each.

Is it because I’m a woman, or a closet nerd, that the Shatner Tweet is far more impressive to me than the Alyssa Milano one?
January 6th, 2013 @ 12:36 pm
The latter. You’ll notice I’ve followed a consistent policy in Live At Five of never mentioning any of those…people…by name.

ON IT! I’ll shake down a small restaurant today!

Tweeting is not the cause of the breakdown. Just a symptom.

Maybe, but it just ain’t in the cards right now.
