Dems Have LAMS-Sized Sack To Be On About Our ‘Broken’ System

Tuesday marks the 1,350th day since the Senate passed a budget. The law requires Congress to pass a budget every year, on the grounds that Americans deserve to know how the government plans to spend the trillions of taxpayer dollars it collects, along with dollars it borrows at the taxpayers’ expense. But Majority Leader Harry Reid, who last allowed a budget through the Senate in April 2009, has ignored the law since then.

Who does Reid think he is? David Gregory? For all there is no halting those broken records, I really don’t want to hear about how ‘broken’ our system is from these little fascist wannabees. And don’t drop a quarter in me about the filibuster, either, which The Dingy One has another fortnight to try to ram through.

‘Balance approach’, ‘flexibility’, and ‘negotiation’ are about exchanges in position. Finding middle ground. Not simply crushing the opposition into dirt, as if half the country somehow didn’t exist. I know, I’m speaking of what a statesman would do, not a cheap thug.

    Dead solid perfect.

    If you take (1) the lack of a budget, (2) the attempt to radically alter the purpose of the Senate again [first successful attempt: the 17th Amendment], (3) ruling by Executive Order and regulation, (4) working to confiscate firearms, (5) imposing the takeover of our health care by one party vote, etc., what you have is a Tyranny.

    We are in the same position the citizens of The Roman Republic were in during the years spanning from Marius through Caesar.

    It would seem Obama wants to be a combination of Marius and Sulla – all the bad things about them. Also, he lacks their manliness.

    What I simply fail to understand (aside from the fact that we’re talking about Mitch McConnell here) is why the senate minority leader doesn’t tell Reid that NO presidential nominee will be approved until Reid follows the law and passes a budget.

    Just like Boehner can shut down the entire bureaucratic state including presidential junkets to the surf in Hawaii by refusing to raise the debt ceiling or pass a CR, McConnell can cut Obama and Reid off at the knees by denying all future nominees a vote.

    They just need some cajones.

    Since Ried has public stated he will not have the senate produce or vote on a budget, and hasn’t for four years, he has willfully violated the Congressional Budget Act of 1974. Using Al Gore’s famous line, that there is no controling legal authority to enforce that law.

    Since he has obviously violated the law the only recourse seems to be impeachment.

    I pretty sure the that for political reasons, that won’t be done.

    Of course he would say that this was only a political attack. But other then screaming that, how could he defend himself?

    Why shouldn’t Harry Reid be impeached?

    Consider the possiblities.

    Same reason impeachment won’t work.

    They’re working to change the rules. And that takes a simple majority, if they are stupid enough to try it.

    I agree that the weasel, Harry Reid, will try to change the Senate rules but that is a genie that he should be smart enough to not let out of the bottle. If he wants to get rid of the filibuster then the GOP has multiple avenues to take advantage going forward:

    McConnell tells the public that Reid is taking dictatorial powers that, should he follow through with his rule change, McConnell will retain the rule for the GOP’s use, once he becomes Senate majority leader. This will give a future GOP majority the ability to block any Liberal/totalitarian initiatives undertaken by the Dems once the GOP takes over the Senate in 2014.

    When that happens, then a.) no nominee that Obama submits will get through unless they are a moderate or conservative, b.) the Senate will pass the Ryan budget (or one that is even more fiscally responsible than that one), c.) The GOP Senate and House will vote to eliminate the departments of Education, HHS, HUD, Energy, and EPA and the Dems will not be able to stop it without a veto. Furthermore, the GOP will vote to repeal ObamaCare, all Federal gun restrictions, and pass a variety of other laws that Libs will HATE (that list is long).

    IOW, if Reid wants to play with fire, let him do it.
