Mediocrity Celebrated, Greatness Ignored

And douchebags insufficiently denounced:
Liberal bias is not a matter of unfairness, but rather a matter of dishonesty — deliberately ignoring some facts, and misrepresenting other facts, in order to misinform the public by portraying to them a politically falsified view of events and personalities. If there were ever any honest person employed by the New York Times (we stipulate the hypothetical), that person would have been obligated to quit Thursday morning, when the banner headline on the front page of the paper should have been: “ANDREW BREITBART WAS RIGHT.” (An appropriate subhead might be, “Anthony Weiner Is a Typically Dishonest Democrat Dirtbag.”) Cheating a great man out of his posthumous vindication is, however, just small change in the vast franchise of journalistic dishonesty of which the New York Times is the flagship enterprise. The fundamental falsehood of the whole Big Lie business is that Democrats are virtuous simply because they are Democrats, which is the only reason any fool ever could have thought a wretched human stain like Anthony Weiner worthy of admiration. . . . .
You can read the whole thing at The American Spectator.

Read the article. Great explanation of liberal media bias, and the closing quote is highly effective and spot on.

Excellent article, Stacy.
Can TAS not get a moderator? Under your article is a slew of random, off-topic, flame-fest crap that makes the site look amateurish. If they can’t get control of it, I’d recommend they simply keep comments closed.
Which also looks kind of cheap, but better than serving as a host for that nonsense.

There are several, RCV, DRed, on the left, and Occam’s Razor and TLP on the “right” (Razor is a Franken supporter who talks like a conservative) that really need to be banned, but they are simply too loose over there. TLP was suspended, but they let him back on.
The comments are a circus and unworthy of TAS.

Same problem with Breitbart, and now NRO (although I’m glad NRO finally has comments so you can call them on their wobbly mushiness).
They should have rousing, inelleckshual arguments like we do here.

I’ve been telling them for years they need to police up the trolls, but we don’t live in that happy world where everybody is obligated to heed my advice. In that alternative reality, peace and harmony reign, and scores of nubile maidservants cheerfully fulfill my every whim. There are no blog trolls in that fair kingdom, but if there were, they would be crushed by my ferocious army of Amazon warriors who — when not fighting trolls — would also cheerfully fulfill my whims.
At any rate, we don’t live there, we live here in this fallen and dysfunctional world, where even the interns at the American Spectator can’t be expected to fulfill my whims — by crushing those trolls, I mean — and I even occasionally have to fix my own sandwiches.
