    I’m guessing that’s a sturgeon, from whence all that caviar comes. Whether or not Vlad himself did the deed doesn’t matter too much for the aromatic point of the juxtaposition.

    Looks more like a Northern Pike. Sturgeon have a flatter and longer nose. Plus Sturgeon are bottom feeders and don’t have big sharp teeth like the pike.

    I’ve latched onto Sturgeon when fishing for catfish in the Snake River west of Boise, Id. I only had spinning tackle with 10# test so you can imagine what happened… the fish won.

    It’s a pike.

    A neighbor of mine, Peter King, used to stalk them on Lough Corrib with a shotgun. Not sporting. Still, he used to leave enough fish for a decent meal.

    White fish. Very neutral flavor. Nice when grilled with mustard.

    Our President is a weak, ineffectual, low intellect verbal bully.
    He’s been allowed to get away with this for years as others saw in him a useful tool or ornament to promote or advance their own agenda.

    That he has, listens to and obeys so called advisors that couldn’t get a job in the DMV should tell anyone what sort of “command presence” and executive experience he has.

    If Putin were to enter the Presidential race here (and was allowed to run) he would win.

    Ya Know I think it is not only Drudge and Putin slagging his unwholeyness. I’ve seen a couple of reports that Jay Leno is killing his competition in his time slot. I’m wondering if it is because people are tuning in so the won’t miss the hits Leno has been doing on the Wobblyone in his monologue, while the competition keeps on their knee pads. ?

    I saw a guy ‘land’ a sturgeon sport fishing the Snake in Hell’s Canyon (catch and release only, and you cannot physically remove the fish from the water.)

    Pike can be very boney. Another option is to smoke it whole, then strip the flesh with a fork and make pate. In the US pike from moving water tends to make better table fare.

    Lake pike is one of a few fish that I have no compunction about using as fertilizer.
