INCREDIBLE DISASTER! CATASTROPHE! APOCALYPSE!

Posted on | November 30, 2013 | 76 Comments

Being an Alabama fan means expectations so high as to be, objectively, unrealistic. It is impossible that the Crimson Tide could have undefeated seasons and national championships every year.

Yet anything short of perfection is failure to the ‘Bama fan.

So . . . we lost.

To Auburn.

It was an exciting game, but . . . we lost.

To Auburn.

Psychological trauma.

This team exceeded my expectations for the season. Nick may have robbed McCarron of his Heisman moment. But I’ll take Saban over any other living coach.

    To err…

What could possibly go wrong. I mean a McCarron pass might get batted up into an interception and have been returned for a touchdown. But miracles don’t happen every week in Jordan-Hare Stadium, do they?

But a failed field goal? Why it would go sailing out of the end zone and the game would go straight into OT. What could possibly go wrong? In Jordan-Hare Stadium? Where miracles couldn’t possibly happen on a weekly basis?

Maybe one of those oak trees at Toomer’s Corner was related to Treebeard or something, ’cause there is a LOT of magic in the air down there…

It is funny how “11 and 1” can sound so sweet to one team and so vile to another.

It is a long and lonely road between Auburn and Tuscaloosa, especially with the number “1” has been wrenched from your grasp and gotten oddly lodged in the back of your throat…

If winning were assured, we would all soon lose interest.

There are, of course, consequences to your head coach being Satan. I mean Saban. http://t.co/BhhtMI42rk cc @rsmccain

Kicking for a team like Alabama is a thankless job. You only go in when the team gets stopped short.

AJ McCarron show a lot of class defending his teammate.

Face facts. The pond scum among the tide-weather fans have just iced every Alabama kicker for the next 5 to 10 years.

Just a thought, but I wonder if there is some connection between Bama’s loss to Auburn and the jailing of Roger “I am not some whack job” Shuler.

on the other hand, there IS good news for Florida State University…they soundly beat Univ of Fla. Gaytors…and looks like they will face Ohio State in the BCS championship game. 12-0 has such a sweet ring to it…

ROFLMAO!!!!! Where is Oregon now? 2 loss team, utterly out of the running. GO NOLES!

Try to keep up. The University of Auburn “War Eagles” won an amazing victory against the Alabama University “Red Seasick Elephants.”

It was a real “kick in the head.”

You know, Nick gets a lot of credit for being a smart coach. But when he pulls a dumb maneuver, it is usually epically dumb.

Remember when he tried the fake punt deep in his own end of the field, EARLY in the BCS game against Texas? He was lucky to win that game (IMO) because McCoy got injured shortly thereafter, ruining UT’s chances.

I didn’t blame Michigan for going for two Saturday: they had the game in their hands at the 4 yard line. I’m not sure it was the right play called, and the execution was obviously loust (what in hell was the second receiver doing? He didn’t even run a route!). But putting the FG team on the field, when there was a DECENT chance it might get returned by a RETURN man? The result speaks for itself…

I don’t blame the last kicker at all. He ran the play that SABAN called as best he could. It came up short. He had NEVER kicked a FG that long in a game.

The first kicker blew his chances. And Saban blew the last one.

My condolences, Stacy. Always tough to watch your team lose that way.

But OSU has NO business being in the BCS title game. Their schedule is DRAMATICALLY weaker than any of the SEC teams, much less FSU, Stanford or Oregon. Let them play Northern Illinois: they’d probably lose that one, too…

More thought provoking repartee from the people who name their trees. I always get a smile when I drive by Auburn on 85, a sign proudly proclaims ‘Auburn Technology Parkway.’ There’s a trailer park conspicuously situated at that exit, what a hoot.
