Good News, Good News, Bad News

First, the good news: Ezra Klein failed to hustle a multimillion-dollar deal with the Washington Post and will instead go do his own independent site. This is good because (a) Ezra won’t be getting any more of Jeff Bezos’ money and (b) some other chump will therefore pay money for Ezra to compete with the Post.
Second, more good news: Eugene Volokh’s blog is moving to the Washington Post. This is good news because (a) Volokh will now be getting Jeff Bezos’s money, and (b) fuck you, Ezra Klein.
However, all this good news is negated by the bad news that Noel Sheppard of Newsbusters has been diagnosed with cancer.

This reminds me, of course, of how Andrew Breitbart died of a heart attack when he was 10 years younger than me, and Andrew never smoked cigarettes. Next time I complain about bad luck, somebody please remind me I’m a 54-year-old grandfather.
Every new day is grace.

You’re a 54 yo Grandfather. I was a Grandfather 9 years younger than you – slacker!
Hodgkins is nothing to sneeze at either. It got my father 23 years ago, 11 years after he was diagnosed.
When he was 49, they knocked it down quite easily. 7 years later it was back. They knocked it down easily again, and 2 years later it was back. The periods of remission got shorter and shorter. They finally gave up in September and he died in early December.
Hodgkins Lymphoma is insidious.
Every day above ground is a gift from God.

Very cool that Volokh is moving to the WP. He will significantly raise the average IQs there.

Alas, after our last was born (he’s now 35) we were strongly advised by our cardiologist not to have anymore. The last nearly killed my wife. Better part of valor and all that.

True Story, my wife went to the emergency room with a paralyzing gall stone attack, and we found out she was pregnant. She was 45 at the time. We kept the baby, lost the gall bladder and 3 years ago she had a double mastectomy.
And Wendy Davis thinks she is tough ……….

You forgot to mention that blogs (like TOM) with Amazon shopping links also get a cut of Jeff Bezos’s money.

Sorry to hear about Noel, he’s one of the good guys. He’ll be in my prayers and thoughts.
The other bad news is that Volokh will be behind the WaPo pay wall at some point, although you can still get to them through their own site for free now, it links direct to their WaPo page.
Volokh has always been a great site for legal information and debates, if they go behind the wall, I’ll miss them. But it is good to hear they will be getting the Klein money from now on.
Klein seems to have overestimated his own worth, which seems easy enough for a worthless phony like him. Maybe he will attract some Leftist Sugar Daddy backing for a while, but he will not build The Next Big Thing, which it seems he thinks he is on to.
