But … ‘Progressive’!

Posted on | March 21, 2015 | 17 Comments

Unacknowledged irony:

South Africa is still home to high levels of violence against women and children, despite a constitution widely regarded as the most progressive in the world . . .

In fact, South Africa is widely reputed to be “The Rape Capital of the World,” and one wonders whether this is truly “despite” its “progressive” government, or in some sense because of it.

“Progress means getting nearer to the place you want to be. And if you have taken a wrong turning, then to go forward does not get you any nearer.
If you are on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; and in that case the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive man.”
    ? C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

I think it was in “The Abolition of Man,” that Lewis writes about the use of “progressive.” The question is not whether something is progressive but rather “progressive toward what end?”

Being “Progressive” means never having to say you’re sorry.

Mandela was a full-on Communist who never quite distanced himself from the thuggish violence of his followers or wife.
The whole basis for the ANC’s supposed moral authority was a lie.
    Anyone remember “necklacing?”

Mandela also released a huge number of prisoners from South African jails after he and the ANC took power…and I’m not talking about people jailed for resistance to “the apartheid regime” but real criminals…rapists, murderers, strong arm robbers. It was a disaster for black and white South Africans alike.

That may be true, but the real problem is violence in the shanty town sections of the townships. Those areas have a very big problem with illegal immigrants from all of the failed Sub-Saharan states clashing with the rural poor South Africans that moved to the cities for work.

Makes total sense. If you are an idiot.

The worst thing that happened to South Africa was DeKlerk releasing
Mandela. Mandela was jailed righteously as a terrorist. The ANC was a terrorist organization and still is.

Add in the economic decline of SA since the ANC took, over, and you get a perfect stew of lawlessness. The ANC will have SA becoming just like Rhodesia under Mugabe. Just another black majority failed state.

SA doesn’t have to become a failed state. But the ANC will not follow the example of Botswana. They’re too busy destroying the legacy of colonialism. That simply means they will tear the country down to the ground and will never rebuild it.

Remember during the Cold War, when Progressives kept enthusing over all the terrific “rights” guaranteed by the Soviet Constitution? For that matter, read some history on how much progressives loved Hitler and Mussolini, until those two got on Uncle Joe’s wrong side (Stalin, not Biden).

As for South Africa, anybody remember the film District 9? The obvious explanation was that it was a metaphor of apartheid, but what Blomkamp was actually referring to was the black on black predation in the shanty towns, which included blacks fleeing Zimbabwe as well as Nigerian criminal gangs.

Apartheid was an ugly system, but you haven’t seen real ugly until you have a “people’s revolution.”
