Dan Riehl: Yes And Yes

Dan Riehl says that ‘Smitty Is Short-Sighted And Confused‘. It is true that I am myopic, and, yes, his muddled point did throw me.

If I meant the GOP, I would have written it. The Right is a very different thing.

OK, fine. I suppose, given the following fragments from the post, you could have just as easily been talking about the Left:

  • . . .most political Twitter users. . .
  • . . .primaries amounted to something of a #twitterfail. . .
  • . . .interest, usage and blog traffic goes through the roof in the fall, as it does in election years. . .
  • . . .think of what would happen if we were at 2012. . .
  • . . .Twitter users following politics. . .

But then again, you could have been talking about Independents. So it was entirely too great a conceptual leap for me to connect the word ‘Right’ in the post’s title with the word ‘conservative’ in the post’s URL to arrive at the conclusion that the people in question were, in fact, ye Grande Olde Party.

Maybe one should have paid for that laser eye surgery to clear up these matters, so that these “very different thing(s)” wouldn’t seem to, you know, overlap substantially. As they do. The fact that the GOP and the Right/Conservatives so frequently do not overlap (e.g. Stacy’s cousin) is also a crucial point. The Right has to figure out how to get the GOP to destroy itself and be reborn closer to the ideas it claims to espouse if there is ever to be a Federalist recovery in the country. I get that.  My bad.

What’s truly confusing about Dan’s post is the bit about:

But, as I don’t have a gal Friday to man my blog, too much time doing that and not blogging – and the blog suffers, which drives traffic and revenue down. NTTAWWH a gal Friday like Smitty, or any thing.

Well, I’m sure that Sissy Willis will be taken aback by this attack on her femininity, or is this this merely and alias, and the Sissy Willis posting to Dan’s blog one of those M. Butterfly sorts of people, NTTAWWT?

    Is this blogwar thing real? It sure looks like it. All y’all all have good ideas. Some of them aren’t the same. So what? What’s with all the butthurt? Jiminy christmas. I just won’t read either of y’all’s sites if this gets worse. I don’t want to watch the kids fight.

    While I am, indeed, a woman, Sissy is nobody’s gal Friday, no way.

    On the other hand, for the most part, I don’t care WHAT you say about me as long as you say SOMETHING about me.
