The Most Crucial County Council Election in 5,000 Years of Human Civilization

The primary is tomorrow, and it is impossible to overstate the importance of Mike Calpino’s campaign in Wicomico County, Maryland. Mike is a visionary statesman who is destined for greatness.

That’s Mike and his teenage daughter Rachel at yesterday’s 9/12 Taxpayers March on Washington, which sort of explains the “visionary statesman” part. You see, Mike had the foresight several years ago to bring Rachel to a church camp where she met my son Jim, who is now 17.

This was why Jim insisted that he had to attend yesterday’s rally, to meet up with Rachel. She is “just a friend,” Jim says, as if expecting me to believe that.

You have to admire the keen political strategery by which Mike Calpino arranged to have his daughter Rachel enchant my son Jim so that — at this pivotal moment in Mike’s campaign for Wicomico County Council — he could secure my endorsement.

Fortune? Coincidence? Luck?

No, this is clearly a Rendezvous With Destiny, a clarion call from the cosmos, the bugle’s blast that will rally all good men to unite behind a leader with the courage we need in these troubled times — Fate’s chosen hero, whose election to Wicomico County Council will be the first step in his march into the pages of History. Mere words are too feeble to capture the profound significance of this moment.

The man and the hour have met!
