On the other hand, I voted for Ross Perot, so someone help me with the lumber in me e’e. 😉

Rodger SimonKimball, courtesy of Insty, notes that the “Recession is Over”. Here is a great idea for one of those Republican Governors Association ads:
Kindergarten scene, bunch of kids playing. Bell rings. Matronly woman by the schoolhouse door yells, “OK, kids, recess is over!”
The children pick up balls, coloring books, jump ropes and the like, and file past the woman into the school, and she complements them: “Good job, Nancy, Steny, Charlie, Alcee, Harry, Lisa, Barbara, Barack! I hope you kids never forget the lesson of cleaning up and not leaving a mess for whoever follows.”

I too was a college democrat, aided and abetted by my scandalously older, frequently unemployed free-spirited, liberal beau.

I never had the mean streak that liberalism requires though. I wanted to help people, but I didn’t want to resort to thuggery, and I didn’t hate the rich.

Outgrew liberalism about the same time I outgrew the beau. Something about having a job seemed to change my perspective.

Another thought – I would have voted for Fred Thompson for the opportunity to hear him snark at the Dems. Since I couldn’t get a candidate who made me happy, I was perfectly content to settle for one who could make me laugh.

And I’d vote for Perot, or someone like him, again. Third party in our future.

Smitty, you’re a man after my heart. No shame in voting for the crazy guy who just happened to speak the truth. The ‘giant sucking sound’ happened as he predicted. It got worse when China was given ‘Most Favored Nation’ Trading Status. All under Clinton, but BOOOOSH Sr. would have done the same, so sue us for voting for the crazy billionaire who spoke the truth.
