New Motherf–g Tone, Libya War Edition

“I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you’re not patriotic. We should stand up and say, we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration.”
— Hillary Clinton, April 2003
“Republicans are attacking the Commander-in-Chief during a time of war! . . . There should be no debate: we ought to be kicking [Moammar Qaddafi’s] ass . . . Whose side are you on? Are you with the terrorists, Sarah [Palin], or are you with the President of the United States? . . . And I have to ask the question tonight: Where is the patriotism from all of these war-hawks? Where’s the patriotism of the Republican Party?”
— Ed Schultz, MSNBC, March 2011
Now, try to stop laughing at Ed Schultz long enough to imagine how Keith Olbermann’s head would explode if he ever saw a story like this about George W. Bush:
President Barack Obama has signed a secret order authorizing covert U.S. government support for rebel forces seeking to oust Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, government officials told Reuters on Wednesday.
A secret order for covert war? In an Arab country with lots of oil? Without approval from Congress? Consulting with Bill Kristol?
Back in the day, 2006-2008, that would have merited a 5,000-word “Special Comment” from Olbermann: “Have you no shame, sir?”
