Separated At Birth? JR/WJ Edition

Dallas is back tonight. Peering into the future, I see a show that is mostly a retread of the classic I watched in my youth, with a heavy subtext of George W. Bush and Mitt Romney bashing.

I could be wrong. The show might play an even hand, and show that capitalism is what makes a first-rate country tick, in addition to showing that money doesn’t buy virtue. Maybe I’ll TiVo it.

What we can be confident about is that the show won’t make any comparisons along these lines:

His Sliminess His Slickness

At least the new Dallas can’t be the first to put George W. Bush’s head on a pike. As though that ‘just kinda happened’ and there was no thought of free advertising involved. None.

Update: linked by Daily Pundit, who says that capitalism was bashed in the original iteration. I admit to having been young at the time.

I watched about 15 minutes, that was enough! Won’t be tuning in again. Clean energy vs. Oil advertising crap.

Meh, all these remakes just proves that Hollywood lhas ost its mojo, and did so years ago, especialy if they have to dig up old soap operas centering on a bunch of greedy horndogs fighting each other for the family treasure, or the ability to boff the latest array of bimbos.  This decline started around the same time lefties began infiltrating the ranks of the entertainment industry.

Which tells me that the conservative bashing on this particular reincarnation of obsolete TV trash will be continuous and obvious, since Hollywood has nothing else.  This is just a medium for overt conservative bashing propaganda disguised as entertainment.  They try to match the abilities of their much more talented and ethical predecessors, only to fail miserably.

This is why I particularly treasure the OFF button on the remote control for my boobtube, and why I do not own a TIVO.

As for the JR-Bubba cloning, I’d bet Billy Bob is jonesing for a cameo appearance on the show, and the chance to offer JR some sage advice.

I’m not connected to an antenna, nor do I have cable. I don’t have to worry about what the grandkids watch here because I’ve bought and seen all the DVDs we have for them. I see no reason why I should pay for someone else’s depravity.

No TV or cable, kind of liberating ain’t it.

Given that Larry Hagman’s 15 years older, he’s holding up a lot better than Bill is. And yeah, I know Bubba had the heart thing. And Larry’s had throat cancer and burned out his liver before that. Larry’s still doing better.
