    Actually, John Lennon had become a Republican and was a big fan of Ronald Reagan before he died. He was pretty embarrassed about the twaddle he’d written previously.

    Every time I hear or see a reference to “Imagine” I think of the fact that John & Yoko owned a second entire apartment at the Dakota just to store all their furs at the exact right temperature.

    “Imagine no possessions/I wonder if you can” my you know what.

    Is there any evidence for this? Doesn’t quite ring true to me. But if we’re going to slam him for “Imagine” we should also give him credit for “Revolution” – “But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao you ain’t gonna make it with anyone anyhow”

    His former assistant says as much:

    John Lennon was a closet Republican, who felt a little embarrassed by his former radicalism, at the time of his death – according to the tragic Beatles star’s last personal assistant.

    Fred Seaman worked alongside the music legend from 1979 to Lennon’s death at the end of 1980 and he reveals the star was a Ronald Reagan fan
    who enjoyed arguing with left-wing radicals who reminded him of his former self.

    What I think of is the marvelous takedown that William F. Buckley did of that song. He completely eviserated it in his own inimitable style; it was a wonder to read.

    I signed to Lennon’s *Imagine*. One of the most difficult things I’ve ever had to do. The part of my brain that learns new languages must be sleeping.

    Like the music however, and sometimes it’s all music to one’s ears, eh?

    You know,’ordinary’ people they overestimate their memories, whereas nondualists, zen buddhists and other weirdos underestimate their memories.

    Nothing is real, it means that everything is real, if everything is real, then our memories are real too.

    As for John Lennon, I’m only interested in his birthday memory, death is not real.

    Angie…you could start a story with your imagining setting up house with each one of your biggest twitter fans. That might be interesting and fun. And they can do the same with one another. Talk about strange, weird, and slightly insane takes on living standards. hahaha.
