Now, the House CR and the epic Ted Cruz speech were more velocity than mass, we can agree. There wasn’t a lot of hope that a Senate which goes for years without passing a budget would actually pass the House’s CR as written.

But not that matters have gone full circle, and now the House

will vote on two amendments to the Senate-passed continuing resolution that will keep the government open and stop as much of the president’s health care law as possible.
“The first amendment delays the president’s health care law by one year. And the second permanently repeals ObamaCare’s medical device tax that is sending jobs overseas.
“Both of these amendments will change the date of the Senate CR to December 15th. We will also vote on a measure that ensures our troops get paid, no matter what.

You have Harry Reid saying:

“To be absolutely clear, the Senate will reject both the one-year delay of the Affordable Care Act and the repeal of the medical device tax,’’ said Mr. Reid.
“After weeks of futile political games from Republicans, we are still at square one: Republicans must decide whether to pass the Senate’s clean CR, or force a Republican government shutdown,’’ he said in a written statement, referring to a short-term bill to fund federal agencies that cleared the Senate on Friday.

Reid, I don’t deploy the ‘L’ word terribly often, but you’re a liar. The Republicans aren’t the recalcitrant ones here. You are, you cadaverous thug.
Down the way:

The White House says President Barack Obama would veto House Republican legislation that would delay much of the president’s health care overhaul for a year and cancel a tax on medical devices.

All I can say is, when it’s time for the blame game, the Democrats own this. Speaker Boehner, this is your hour. Pay no attention to the godless Commie sodomites on the Left who want to break this country. Stand firm. Nobody who’s been paying attention to anything believe the Democrats or their river of lies. Pay no attention to the codpiece media; we know they are liars, too.

There will be no relief here. You cannot succumb to cancer. You can only fight this, if there ever is to be hope of recovery.

They don’t care if we’re listening or not. And they don’t care if the Low Interest Voters listen or not, because they can be counted on to jump at the last shiny thing they see before election day.

What they’re counting on are the Deliberately Ignorant Voters, the ones who are desperate not to have to change their views or admit their past mistakes.

We ran into that at our Friday night rally this week. We had signs on OCare sourced from Forbes, the CBO and a recent mailing from a major LA hospital, Cedar SInai, announcing they would not be participating in the CA exchanges. More than one person came up to us and said, “I just can’t believe that,” or “that can’t be right.” Simply could not admit the possibibility they were screwed and they’d done it to themselves into their world view.

You are quite correct it will be Reid and Obama who shut down the government, if it comes to that as seems likely, but you are considering only the facts.

In politics the perception is the reality. Clinton shut down the government in 1995, Congress passed a budget and he vetoed it. But that was not the perception, we were blamed. In the end, we didn’t suffer so badly and did accomplish some cuts, but we were blamed.

Every poll on the subject shows Republicans will be blamed for any shutdown now by wide margins – even among Republicans! And even the subset of those who oppose ObamaCare are against shutting down the government over it, and would blame the GOP. Independents will blame us by huge majorities.

Believing that somehow “this time will be different” is like the theory of second marriages: the triumph of hope over experience. The optimism is admirable, but the realism needs some work.

Since ObamaCare is primarily funded by its enabling legislation, not annual appropriations, the CR has nothing to do with “funding” or “defunding” it anyway. So the entire thing has been a pointless exercise in futility.

The point of blame means Obama doesn’t ever have to cave in. Revenue will still flow into the Treasury as usual and absent a budget resolution guess who will decide how to spend it? HINT: no cuts in the golfing or party budgets.

So people will be mad at Republicans again. So what people are always mad at the Republicans. The 95/96 shutdowns didn’t actually hurt the Republicans they picked up two senate seats and lost a couple in the house. What really hurt the Republicans in 96 was nominating Dole and the soaring economy.
