Democrats Dump Obama
Posted on | July 14, 2014 | 25 Comments
Hope and Change have become a campaign liability:
Obama’s approval ratings are in the basement and show no signs of improving, so Democrats are keeping their distance. On the stump, in campaign ads and at fundraisers, Obama’s absence is increasingly conspicuous.
Democrats are voicing their displeasure with his policies and campaign advisers are telling candidates to avoid being photographed with him, so as to deny Republicans effective visuals for campaign ads.
“It’s a no-brainer,” said one operative who works for a senator up for reelection in 2014. “The second term has been a bit of a disaster, his approval ratings are the lowest of his presidency and Washington is in disarray.”
Many of the Democratic senators elected in 2008 rode to office on Obama’s coattails. Six years later, they’re asking, “Barack who?”
Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.) last week avoided being at his own fundraiser while Obama was there, excusing himself on the grounds that he had to attend votes at the Capitol. . . .

Like rats from a sinking ship…or is it like snakes from a flooded hole in the ground?
July 14th, 2014 @ 10:13 am
My question is, why does Obama’s popularity remain so high, when his failures and dishonesty should limit it to most black voters plus the usual ten percent who don’t get the word. In other terms, why is he over 20% approval?
July 14th, 2014 @ 10:38 am
Bush was over 20% too, even at the worse for him (and he had the whole MSM against him). I am going to go with Liberalism being a Mental Disorder. #TheBearIsLoose

Your comment is unfair and offensive. . .
. . . to rats and snakes.
July 14th, 2014 @ 11:38 am
Fair enough. How about scurrying away from Obama like Cockroaches from a bright light.

Rats. Ship. Sinking.

Because he never accepts responsibility for anything. It’s always someone else’s fault.
(And as much as I would like to take credit for that observation, it came from Limbaugh.)
July 14th, 2014 @ 12:26 pm
Even the fantasy world of the left has its limits. Broadcasters merrily chirp about how low unemployment is while in reality people are dropping out of the work force. Obama and his Hollywood airheads applaud how Obamacare has made health insurance free while people pony up thousands of dollars more for their policies. After awhile even liberals stop believing their own brainwashing.
July 14th, 2014 @ 12:32 pm
The check book often slaps people into reality.

Only if the light actually destroyed everything in its path…
July 14th, 2014 @ 1:15 pm
Quite true, just as Dubya’s loss of popularity was partly due to his taking punishment like a man rather than blaming things on Clinton or even the Dems in Congress, much as they deserved it.
But the question is, even taking into account the stupidity of many Obama supporters, why is he able to fool so many? Evi L. might be right, although I think I favor the dominance of wishful thinking over rational thought. If we still lived in the Stone Age these people would be thinned out from believing it was safe to pet the cute kitty-kats and kave bears.
July 14th, 2014 @ 1:24 pm
I heard Jeanne Shaheen interviewed on the radio this morning. The interviewer soft-balled most of the questions (re: VA, particularly in NH), but then lobbed a grenade in. He asked if she would have urged President Obama to visit the border during his visit to Texas given the opportunity. She responded with (my paraphrase), “that’s a partisan political question. I am not going to answer that.” WTF senator. Your whole job is a partisan political position.
July 14th, 2014 @ 1:25 pm
Robert Heinlein had a phrase which got adopted by libertarians everywhere. TANSTAAFL, or There Ain’t No Such Thing As A Free Lunch. That doesn’t stop people from believing when they are promised one and are too lazy.
There is a great quote by Lawrence W. Reed:
“It constantly amazes me that the defenders of the free market are expected to offer certainty and perfection while government has only to make promises and express good intentions.”

July 14th, 2014 @ 5:06 pm
With the exceptions of 1986 & 1998, the incumbent President’s party almost always “runs away from” him in the second midterm as that tends to be the nadir of popularity and public approval. So it is pretty much the norm.
What is different about this is that so many of those who are avoiding Obama like plague were all too anxious to embrace him in 2008. Udall is one of the most vulnerable of the new Senators, the immigration disaster may be enough to tip Colorado back our way. Even Franken doesn’t want to be seen with him.

I was thinking more along the lines of “No honor among thieves.”
July 14th, 2014 @ 7:21 pm
This is all very amusing, but after Obama’s gone the leftists will remain. I’m not interested nearly as much in tearing down Obama as I am in discrediting leftism.
July 14th, 2014 @ 7:37 pm
What a fooking idiot she is. She deserves lifetime banishment.
July 14th, 2014 @ 8:01 pm
And a very serious disorder it is.
July 14th, 2014 @ 8:45 pm
I want to crush Leftism. If you don’t kill the Beast, it will keep coming back.
July 14th, 2014 @ 9:49 pm
Lefties are running away from him, but the policies will remain the same. See Bob above.
Also, if the lefties ARE running from this goose stepper, why won’t Republicrats impeach him?
July 14th, 2014 @ 10:24 pm
Democrats are voicing their displeasure with his policies
But demonrats are dishonest liars who actually support those policies and voted for them for 5 years before legislative action ceased to exist because Hairy the pederast Reid stopped it
