Did a Democrat Candidate Harass a Democrat Woman in Toledo?

A woman has gone to Facebook to accuse former Mayor Mike Bell of inappropriately touching her at a Toledo bar Friday night, allegations Mr. Bell denies.
Allison Dow, 29, of Toledo’s Old West End, said Mr. Bell made an unwelcome sexual comment and touched her buttocks late Friday at Wesley’s Bar & Grill on Adams Street in downtown Toledo.
Ms. Dow put her outraged reaction on Facebook, calling Mr. Bell, 60, “a perverted old man.”
Mr. Bell, who is running for mayor again, on Tuesday denied the allegations, suggesting a political motive.
Ms. Dow is a former office manager for the Lucas County Democratic Party, which has endorsed Paula Hicks-Hudson for the job Mr. Bell is seeking.
“I was standing at the bar ordering a drink and someone came up behind me and put his hand on my lower back and whispers, ‘If you stand up on your tiptoes in that dress, me and my friends will pass out,’ and he lowered his hand to my butt,” Ms. Dow told The Blade Tuesday.
“He pulled that same move with several other people at that bar,” she said.

You can read the whole thing. Apparently, nobody believes Ms. Dow is a victim of anything. Ms. Bell is a bachelor with something of a reputation as a ladies’ man, and Ms. Dow . . .

Well, as an undergraduate at the University of Toledo, Ms. Dow was active in “Spectrum,” a gay student organization.

So, a Democrat guy in a bar allegedly makes a pass at a Democrat girl who just isn’t into Democrat guys. Or any other guys.

Not much of a scandal, really. Mr. Bell denies everything, but even if it were true, so what? Is it against the law in Toledo for guys in bars to behave the way guys behave in bars? Is this an issue in the Toledo mayoral campaign?

Put it this way: If it’s a career-destroying scandal for a Democrat to make “an unwelcome sexual comment” to a woman, maybe we should discuss the career of Hillary Clinton’s husband.

Juanita Broaddrick could not be reached for comment.

Well, in most places, I think this would be considered assault, or in this case, “ASSaualt.”

On any college campus, this would be RAPE and Mike Bell would already be suspended and out of the dorms.

But, he is a Democrat so rules don’t apply….

Allison Dow is pleasant looking enough, but nobody’s going to pass out at the sight of her. Sounds like a fantasy (unless Mr. Bell and some of his friends were seriously blotto, which is unbecoming in a man of 60 and would raise questions about his suitability).

From the article you link to from 2007, it would appear she was associated with some PFLAG-like project sponsored by the campus gay club and not necessarily a member of the gay club as well (and, that aside, abiding homosexuality is atypical among women). Everyone’s got their own personal style, but looking at her (and recalling she was wearing a dress at the bar in question) I would not put money on the proposition she’s a lesbian in any unadulterated and uncomplicated way.

The description of Mayor Bell makes him sound like a character who might have been dreamed up and played by Redd Foxx. The long-divorced Harold Washington supposedly stashed a mess of one-time girlfriends in city jobs. You figure Mayor Bell did the same?

It’s pretty clear that she has a feminist agenda and that her story is bunk. She claims that she saw Bell harass or accost 10 women. NOBODY has come forth to substantiate that claim. She took some photos which she claims showed Bell harassing women. In the two separate photos, the women were identified and both said they were friends of Bell and he did nothing wrong (so much for that smoking gun, Allison).

There was a DIFFERENT black man at the bar that night who WAS bounced by the staff for harassing women. He was said to be roughly the same age and height/build as Bell. The bar owner has reiterated quite clearly that none of the staff saw Bell doing anything untoward and there were no complaints from patrons.

Allison first claimed that Bell said, “‘if you stand up on your tiptoes in that dress me and my friends will pass out.” She is now claiming that he said he said he wanted to “see up her dress.”

As for the agenda, she has somehow duped the bar owner into participating in fundraising for the YWCA and spreading awareness on harassment. The Toledo Blade plans to do a big story. Here is what one of the reporters had to say about the project:
“There is a larger conversation that we desperately need to have about how women are talked to and treated. Nolan Rosenkrans and I are going to work on a story about that very such thing. I have a good feeling about this and I hope it does well for our community. Ladies, for my part, I need to talk to you. If you’re willing to be an on-the-record source who will tell me about your experiences in bars or, in general, public places, give me a call.
Men, Nolan is looking to talk to you about “how men talk to and treat women, and how men often react when claims of harassment are made.” So if you’d like to weigh-in with him, please do.”

Here are some other comments from Allison Dow’s FB:

“People just don’t want to talk about how this happens every single day.” [really? every single day?]

“But at least I got the conversation started! At least for now, you can’t get away with this kind of behavior towards women here.”

“Right? Touching me and telling me you and your friends want to see up my dress is scary. It is not ok, it’s harrassment and it happens daily!” [again, daily?]

“If you told your daughter, sister, or friend this week that she should speak up loudly if anyone is ever harrassing her, then we are finally getting somewhere.”

“Hey, at least we got the conversation going.”

Does any of the above sound familiar to readers of this website? Just as we have seen with false rape accusations and the lies about an alleged “Rape Culture,” what we see here is the false narrative of systemic and pervasive harassment and molestation of women. And of course, we must get the conversation going.

There’s a good chance Allison Dow encounterd the OTHER guy was WAS bounced out of the bar. But complaining about some loser isn’t newsworthy and won’t help to promote the agenda. But Mike Bell, the former major who is currently running again for mayor was conveniently there to serve as scapegoat, and just the ticket to Allison’s rise to feminist stardom.

Okay, this story warrants a joke:

A man walks into an Ohio bar and as he approaches the barman and asks for a whiskey and coke.

“Take this apple.”

“I don’t want an apple. I want a JD and coke.”

“Trust me, try the apple.”

The man takes a bite, and exclaims “Christ! This tastes like Jack Daniels!”

“Yup. Turn it around.”

“Wow!” He says after taking a bite from the other side of the apple, “This side tastes like coke!”

Before the man can ask the barman to explain the apple’s mysteries, another patron walks in.

“Vodka and tonic please”

“Here’s an apple.”

A Democrat man saunter’s up to the bar; “Pint of IPA please.”

“Hold on!” Says the second customer. “This guy has an apple in any flavour you want, it’s incredible!”

“Any flavour?” Asks the third man.

“Any flavour you want sir.” Say the barman.

“In that case,” the Democrat man says, “Gimme an apple that tastes like pussy!”

BFreeto, After reading her quotes, I’m fairly certain you’ve pinned it! This smells more than a mackerel after a week in the hot Utah sun!

The worst of it is that I noticed I feel of an urge to jump tp the woman’s defense b/c too many times it has been phony.

And I know I’m not alone in feeling ttat way.

It would be different if I saw a woman ii trouble, but I’m very disinclined to take a strange (Democrat) woman’s word, even if she said that the sky’s blue.
