TERROR RAID: French Police Kill Two, Arrest Seven Suspects in Saint Denis

In a pre-dawn raid reportedly aimed at the mastermind of the Nov. 13 terrorist attacks in Paris, at least two suspects were killed and five arrested in the suburb of Saint Denis. CNN initially reported three suspects had been killed, including one female who blew herself up with a bomb, during the raid targeting Abdelhamid Abaaoud, suspected of organizing the Paris attacks. The Washington Post reports:

Gunshots and explosions rang out from the northern suburb of Saint-Denis early Wednesday as more than 100 French police and army troops laid siege to an apartment with at least six terror suspects, potentially including the alleged ringleader of Friday’s deadly attacks in Paris.
The narrow streets of Saint Denis were clogged with police vehicles and ambulances as witnesses reported multiple explosions. The operation began around 4:30 a.m. [11:30 p.m. ET], and left several police officers wounded and at least two suspects dead. The dead included a woman who blew herself up, according to the Paris prosecutor’s office.
The prosecutor’s office said three men were removed from the besieged apartment block and taken into custody. Their identities were not given. A man and a woman were arrested next to the apartment and also taken into custody. One suspect appeared to be still holed up.
Police may have been targeting Abdelhamid Abaaoud, a Belgian man authorities believe has led the Islamic State’s effort to terrorize Europe, according to an official familiar with the operation. He is seen as the “guru” of Friday’s deadly attacks at a stadium, concert hall and bars and restaurants in Paris, which killed at least 129 people and wounded more than 300 others.
French police have not officially confirmed who was the target of the raid.

UPDATE: The New York Times reports:

After a series of gun battles early Wednesday, the French police arrested five suspects hiding out in an apartment in the northern Paris suburb of St.-Denis in an operation aimed at detaining the Belgian militant suspected of organizing the attacks that killed 129 people on Friday. One woman died in the police assault when she detonated an explosive vest.
The raid began at 4:20 a.m., the Paris prosecutor’s office said, as special police forces, backed by truckloads of soldiers, cordoned off an area near Place Jean Jaurès, a main square in St.-Denis not far from the Stade de France, where three of the seven attackers who died on Friday blew themselves up. The shooting went on for 20 minutes, residents said, and continued in bursts until 7:30 a.m., when there were several explosions and gunfire.
Three men hiding out in the apartment were taken in by the police, the prosecutor’s office said, without identifying any of the three. A man and a woman were also captured near the apartment and have been taken in, the authorities said. Five police officers were lightly wounded, the police said.

UPDATE II: CNBC reports seven arrests:

The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed one woman has died after detonating a suicide bomb, while sources told Reuters earlier a man had also been killed.
It also confirmed that five people have been placed under police custody following the raid. Two more have were arrested later in the morning, according to Reuters. . . .
Some more reports from Reuters about the suspects in the St. Denis raid. The news agency, citing a source, says they had planned an attack on the French business district.

The BCC reports:

The female suicide bomber who was killed in the Saint Denis raids was a relative of lslamic State militant Abdelhamid Abaaoud, BFM TV in France reports. Abaaoud is suspected of masterminding Friday’s attacks. . . .
Seven people were arrested in the raid, police are quoted by the AP news agency as saying. . . .
Several police officers were injured and a police dog killed.

What makes you think those people are moslems? Stereotype much? Do you have some magical proof that that isn’t a picture of a Knights of Pythias convention? …or some Amish preparing to thresh wheat?

The government can have my bacon to put into weapons right after they pry my guns from my cold dead fingers… What are you, a closet vegan? How about our Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, CIA, NSA right down to our Cub Scouts being our shield of defense like they were in the “old days” and just let bacon be bacon. …and you can’t weaponize my pork rind, cracklins, ham, pork chops, ribs or any other part of the tasty hog creature in my freezer. What is wrong with a mind that would waste good food on bad people?

So sorry that you think the problem is me.

You is the point because you have no understanding of what Christianity is and why it has the message it does. You try to boil things down to your limited point of view because “love” or some such other fuzzy misunderstanding of the world. You have no more understanding of what love is than you do of Quantum Physics. God is, indeed, love, but he is also a God of utter holiness, and he will not tolerate in his direct presence people such as yourself who pridefully reject Him. The warning is not about anything I can do to you. It is about God will do in response to your own prideful choices. You think you’ve found answers, but all you’ve found is a god you’ve constructed for yourself.

There we go. You trot out the veiled threats again. Only it’s “not you” that’s doing it.

    Riiiiiiiiight.

Either take responsibility or don’t do it. As you are so often reminding me, I’m not the one you answer to. You could at least be honest about it.

Arguing with you is like arguing with a 12 year old. As usual you missed the point, so you attempt to build an argument around what you wish I had said rather than what I did say.

I haven’t lied to you and you also miss the point of what the duty of a Christian to his fellow man. Some people, like yourself, don’t want to hear it and are too willful to anything with the warning in the first place.

This isn’t about your duty. It’s about you marking your “territory.”

I disagreed with DM that it was Biblical prophecy. That was it, DM was willing to leave it at that.

You had to come in and pound the “Biblical angle” home, even resorting the vague threats. This time around you didn’t go into quite as much detail on the threats. I suppose I should be thankful for small favors.

For the umpteenth time, I’ve no problem with your special book unless you insist that I am bound by your beliefs. That’s your whole issue. I won’t submit. I won’t put your beliefs above my own. I will not cower in the corner hoping that some nice Christian will notice me and pat me on the head.

Oh, I try to be polite about it.

No, you’re stupid about it. You erect strawmen then burn ’em to the ground, then prance about so proud of yourself.

You posted once that you had been a Christian but simply weren’t a nice guy. That guy, the false convert, is still about, he just calls himself something else now but acts little different. It’s also very significant that you repeatedly demonstrate that you are utterly ignorant of Christianity. You sneer about me “marking territory” when I’m doing nothing of the sort. I will point out, however, that project like every other leftist I’ve ever met. With almost every post you make, you show you are much less than what you advertise yourself to be.

The warnings are there, and they have been delivered. You can explain to your final judge why you willfully ignored them. In the mean time, I suggest you grow up.

If I said that I had found Christianity and it made be a better person, you’d be congratulating me.

If a Christian had held his faith in the face of non-believers who would argue the silliest esoteric points, you’d be cheering from the sidelines.

But since I’m not a Christian, that same behavior worries you. Because if I can do it, that means that your belief in the Absolute Rightness of Christianity is at stake. All because I don’t conform.

My path is my own, it’s between me and the Divine. I don’t need your validation.

But you sure need me to submit.

Satan is quite satisfied that you constructed your own way. Any way other than what God demands leads you to his “domain.” The only god you’ve found is the divine Neowayland.

Actually I didn’t create my path, I agreed to it and I’m making the journey myself. That’s what makes it mine.

That doesn’t change the simple fact that you would be cheering me on for my behavior if I were Christian.

It bothers you that I don’t attack your god, doesn’t it? That you try to insult me and my gods, and all it shows is how much you miss the mark. I could tell you, blazes, I have told you that I know it’s human action here not Divinely sanctioned. But you don’t believe that. You still think you have a direct line to Deity that trumps anything I could hope to have.

You’ve limited yourself when talking to me. There’s plenty we could share, more still that we agree on, yet all you can do is “warn” me.

You can engage in all kinds of dream work. God will allow you to go your own way – to a point. That point ends at His throne when you stand for final judgment.
You can attack God all you like. he can take care of Himself quite well. You’re the one that needs to worry.

    You think I need permission?

What is it you think I have done? Have I demanded that you give up your faith for mine? Have I seduced your closest relatives into unspeakable and forbidden rites? Have I rewritten your Bible for my political advantage?

In case you hadn’t noticed, I’ve not attacked your God. I’ve objected to certain Christians using their professed belief to control others. You haven’t addressed the actual topic once in this entire thread.

All you’ve done on this thread is throw insults and vague threats.

You need to respond to what was said rather than what your run away imagination thinks was said.

You don’t need my permission to do anything. You’re quite capable of being just as stupid as you like without my or God’s say so.

    So, have at it.

  19. NeoWayland
    November 23rd, 2015 @ 6:12 pm

The premise of everything you wrote in this thread is that I answer to your God. There’s no proof except your say so, and in this case you’re extremely unreliable. That doesn’t even allow for my evidence.

I won’t submit. I’m better at defending my choice than you are in “proving” that I must give in. That drives you nuts. If I were a Christian defending my faith, you’d be in my corner. Your own duplicity frustrates you more than I ever could.

  20. Quartermaster
    November 23rd, 2015 @ 6:19 pm

You have no “evidence.” I’ve encountered your type many times, and what has been presented repeatedly is laughable. OTOH, fulfilled prophecy is God’s signature. That which has come to pass was fulfilled in complete detail exactly as foretold. Exactly. More discovered yearly.

I have not been the least duplicitous. I simply haven’t said what you want to hear, and from me you will not. You say you won’t submit, and that’s fine. Satan has said the same thing, but he will, just as you will, at the time and place chosen by God, when you appear before Him for final judgment.

Your lack of submission, in the end, is completely irrelevant, as is Satan’s.

  21. NeoWayland
    November 23rd, 2015 @ 6:30 pm

Of course you’ve been duplicitous. You’ve presumed to speak for your God for one, and you’ve judged the faith and worth of your fellow man. Last time I checked, that was against your rule book.

As for your fulfilled prophecy, you’d have an easier time if the text wasn’t written after the fact. And subject to interpretation by selected Christians.

Somehow you’ve totally missed the central message of your entire faith.

    “God is love.”

I’ve known six year olds who told me that. And all you can do is threaten with “God’s judgement.”

  22. Quartermaster
    November 23rd, 2015 @ 8:44 pm

If you are seriously accusing me of duplicity then I am forced to one of two conclusions, 1) you have no idea what the word means or, 2) you are a liar. Take your pick.

  23. NeoWayland
    November 24th, 2015 @ 8:12 am

    I’m not accusing. I’m stating.

Your behavior in this thread demonstrates duplicity.
