Sissypuss: Gov’t Cheese Not Selling In MO

Down at the bottom of the page (h/t Gateway Pundit) it looks like nearly three to one in favor of Prop C:

The Missouri Health Care Freedom, Proposition C is on the August 3, 2010 statewide ballot in Missouri as an legislatively-referred state statute. The proposed measure aims to block the federal government from requiring people to buy health insurance and bans punishment for those without health insurance.

Sissypuss: I blame the Velveeta Underground for this outrage.

I was proud to cast one of those votes. The push back begins today.

    Here’s the county-by-county breakdown:

St. Louis and Kansas City were the only two entities in the state that turned it down but it managed over 40% approval in both those places. Here in St. Louis County, where I live, it got over 60% in favor and in Jackson County, suburban Kansas City, it got over 70% in favor. And a quick glance at the rest of the state suggests that it wasn’t close anywhere. This is as big an ass-kicking as I can ever remember around here.

Wow – an entire “battleground state” moons Obama.

Say, remember last year when he met with the House Dems, and several were concerned that casting the tough votes for his agenda could lead to another debacle like 1994? He told them this was different “because you’ve got ME.”

Yes, indeed they do. Hanging around their necks like the Ancient Mariner’s albatross.

Missouri’s third largest city, Springfield, is located in Greene Country where Prop C passed with over 76%.

The city of Columbia is in Boone County. To me, that is the biggest surprise. Mizzou and Stephens college are located in Columbia and there’s also 3 or 4 major hospitals there. The population in Columbia is well educated and affluent, two groups supposedly supportive of Obamacare, and yet Prop C passed in Boone County by more than 60%.

Obamacare took a thumpin, for sure, thanks to the Republican base being so jazzed to turn out.
