Can We Get ‘Zo To Do An Interview With Morgan Freeman?

It is really, really tiring to hear the likes of Morgan Freeman trot out hackneyed tropes about Tea Parties and raaaaacism.

“Their stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term,” the actor said. “What’s, what does that, what underlines that? ‘Screw the country. We’re going to whatever we do to get this black man, we can, we’re going to do whatever we can to get this black man outta here.'”

I’d like to see Morgan interviewed by the ‘Zo, and asked about the Tea Parties that Freeman has attended, and why Freeman insists on repeating things that are simply untrue.

Morgan, this blog would like to take a moment to forgive you for unfounded slander. I have yet to meet any serious person claiming any genetic basis whatsoever for what is amounting to the least effective Administration ever.

If the raaaaacist charge had merit, Morgan, why would this blog and so many others enthusiastically support Herman Cain? Are you going to say that this is pure head fake; that I merely feign support for his totally American approach to unscrewing the evils of Progressivism, but will throw Cain under the bus in favor of someone less pigmented later?

Are you saying that the admiration this blog has for Allen West is just some front, and that we really feel somehow closer to Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, but just have trouble admitting it?

It’s OK, Morgan. We forgive your inability to move on from America’s raaaaacist past. Let’s not paper over the fact that it existed, and also that the election of President Barack Obama signaled the closing of that period. We understand that there will always be a bitter, clinging remnant whose identity and power were shaped in that era, and who cannot let it go. Yet the pull of that dark historical singularity. . .resist we much.

Of course they think its a head fake! That’s one reason I’m reluctant to be more openly supportive of Cain, because I could see that coming a mile down the track. All you have to do is look at their reaction to Clarence Thomas, or any other conservative black Republican they call an Uncle Tom. They have another special term for the Cains and Thomases-“sell-out”.

He was interviewed by Mike Wallace last year and was asked what we could do to eliminate racism in this country? Freeman’s answer: we should stop talking about it and obsessing about color. Maybe he should take his own advice.

while i don’t think this blog is racist, the whole “we love Herman Cain/other black Republicans, how could Tea Partiers possibly be racist??” deal is on a silly “I have black friends” level of defense.

to use an exaggerated example think of a Noam Chomsky going on about how white people are the greedy oppressors of the world and it’d be better off if they were demographically replaced — but he’s cool with other white people who agree with him. obviously he doesn’t hate white people on an individual level then, but he’s still got views that are a little problematic, to put it nicely.

i don’t think the Republican Party leadership is racist, but i do think that certain Americans across the political spectrum kind of look with disdain on a certain type of black person — urban, dresses a certain way, listens to hip hop, speaks a certain way, etc. etc. which is understandable, there’s obviously negative aspects of black culture, but the idea that 100% of these guys could be well-off if they just pulled themselves up by their bootstraps given their situation is goofy. the argument’s gotta be about ways to help these poorer areas get closer to the rest of the country’s level without making ’em dependent/dysfunctional like past govt. programs have, not just the usual write off of how it’s their fault for fucking up

I would love to see a detailed conversation with Morgan Freeman on this issue, on TV, live. I like Morgan (he is not a complete nut job like other leftists). I think you could actually have that conversation and have it mean something. It cannot be on Real Time or for that matter any other cable show I can think of. Maybe in a format like Charlie Rose, but not with Charlie as the moderator.

Maybe Rush Limbaugh’s show. I would love to see (or hear) Rush and Morgan really discuss this. I would like to respectfully call him on how the tea party is racist and actually show him that tea partiers and conservatives do not hate Barack Obama because he is black, but because of his policies.

I would love to see this conversation between Herman Cain and Morgan Freeman. If the venue was fair, that would be a facinating conversation to observe.

You are correct. Merely saying, I support Herman Cain means nothing. But having Herman Cain confront Morgan Freeman directly and debate these very issues would be great. And would show that the tea party arguments (which for the most part Herman gets) can be argued and are not just made up positions to hide racism.

He won’t show. They never show. I’ve NEVER had a lefty or self-proclaimed “independent” take me up on an offer to attend a Tea Party Event and see for theselves, and I’ve made several.

It requires an above average determination and ability to recognize that it is up to oneself to rise above where one is placed by life, it’s easy to blame others or the other, not all have the strength to resist that temptation. I don’t blame the poor for that I blame the democrats for telling them that they have no hope of success because of what happened 30 to 300 years ago. It’s not just govt. programs holding them back it’s the people who tell them they have no chance without govt for personal success.

That’s it in a nutshell. Government agencies want EVERYBODY dependent on them, not just black people. It’s just that with black people and to a lesser extent certain other interest groups, they have ready made constituencies on which they can build and from which they can expand. You can’t count on government to make people less dependent on government. Government agencies and the people that work for them depend on keeping a certain level of dependency to keep the funding going.

I have NEVER seen, at Tea Party events I attended or watched coverage of or saw later reports of, any racism at all. In fact, every one of the few who acted badly turned out to be leftist plants trying to make the Tea Parties look bad.

The “racism” charge has changed over the years. There was a time when it meant something, when it had a purpose. But it became a tool of intimidation for certain blacks who knew it was the most feared accusation for many white people. They abused it by using it in obviously false ways, and now it’s just the last resort of the unscrupulous black person who is losing something, or Al Sharptongue’s first resort.

Morgan Freeman resorting to such vile slander to defend the SCoaMF is disappointing, but not really surprising. Get ready for an avalanche of this crap. It will get very nasty before it is over.

I’m not surprised Morgan Freeman feels this way rejecting the Hostage Taking Barbarian Nihilistic Republican Bolshevik Republican Tea Party Freedom Fighting SOBs and their vision for the future. Sometime when things change in the country in way that people in Hollywood can’t understand or effect, I think it’s fair to say that Hollywooders become cynical about the turn politics is taking. So when you go into some of their big mansions some of these people become bitter and they cling to their religion of the month and their bongs and their antipathy to average people who don’t share their lack of values and they reach for their copies of Das Kapital or the Communist Manifesto even though they’ve never ever actually read either. They look back to a time when everybody “knew” that all conservatives are raaaaacists and that just playing the race card would shut them up. Those times are never going to return but the racers and the bitter clingers will still believe in their SCOAMF.

Good, because the more they use it, the bigger the backlash that will be felt at the polls. That kind of shit is why Obama got clobbered in Kentucky by Hillary Clinton in the primaries. They’d already started the shit way back then. It was to a great extent responsible for the birth of the PUMA movement. And frankly, it would have sunk Obama’s ass back then if they hadn’t cheated and changed the rules in some primaries to enable Obama to win more delegates than he deserved, and to cut as many from Hillary as possible.

Let them use it, as long as they don’t go so far overboard that they use flat out physical intimidation tactics at the polls (and they’ll probably do that too) it will probably do them a lot more harm than good.

Back then, Obama was a fresh face and way too many people, who should have known better, bought into his hopey-changey shit. Now, more and more people have opened their eyes and they won’t fall for that crap again. And they also aren’t going to buy the lie that Obama isn’t encouraging that, that he is above that.

Remember Bill Clinton “fairy-tale” speech during the primaries? That would make a great ad in the next election.

Who knew the guy was such a racist? It’s a real shame, too. I guess he acts just as well in real life as he does in cinema because he sure exposed himself there.

Wait a minute, Freeman is an actor? Could have fooled me, all he does is basically play the same damn character with a different name in damn near every movie he’s ever in. I think one of those times that characters name was something like “God”.

Granted, there has been a time or two when he went beyond the “wise, sage black man whom everybody likes and respects” but for the most part, not a lot of range there.
