CBS News:

House Speaker John Boehner addressed one of the biggest sticking points for the 12 member Congressional “supercommittee” today, acknowledging that any bipartisan agreement will need to include some new tax revenue.
“I think there is room for revenues, but I think there clearly is a limit to the amount of revenues that are available,” Boehner told reporters.

Maybe, just maybe, it’s time that conservatives thought about forming a second major political party in this country. The Dem/Dem-Lite siamese twins are really, really tiresome.

    I don’t think most districts in Ohio are going to go for somebody like that anyway, even if Boehner wasn’t House Speaker. Ohio elects moderates, and often liberals, but I know of very few straight out conservatives, certainly no hard core social conservatives like this, whoever this is. He almost sounds like a stalking horse to drain support from potentially serious threats to Boehner. I don’t really think that’s the case, this guy is probably just a man with a mission who seriously thinks he’s got a shot.

    He should run up to Boehner sometime and shove a picture of an aborted fetus in his face. That might get him up to thirty percent of the primary vote and a million hits on YouTube, but no House seat.

     You’re right in that those leadership positions are a selling point. Being House Minority Leader probably saved McConnell the last time he was up for re-election, and he’s never had a serious primary challenge that I’m aware of.

    Slavery, like Abortion, is blessed by the Democrat Party.

    Slavery, like Abortion, is based on the idea that certain humans are not human.  In Slavery, a black man was legally equal in many regards to a chair.  In Abortion, you can sell your baby’s body to the cosmetic industry.

    Slavery helped trigger a Civil War. Abortion may well do so.

    Slavery was an issue the Whigs tried to dodge, preferring to instead focus on economic issues.  Abortion is an issue the RINOS and Fiscons would prefer to dodge and instead focus on economic issues.

    The areas that had Slavery had fewer people, and the same for Abortion.  Blue States have been emptying out for a long time.

    Maintaining slavery was the great focus of the Southern Democrats in Congress.  This inspired a great deal of balancing acts where Maine got into the Union at the same time as Missouri, and such like.  The comparison to this seems to be the choosing of the Supreme Court judges.

    Dred Scot was probably one of the worst decisions the SCOTUS has made, but Roe v. Wade surpasses it.

    Lack of moral courage destroyed the Whigs, and it may well destroy the GOP.

    Really? Hmm it sounds to me like he’s mainly trying to force the GOP to take a stronger upfront stance on the pro life issue, which has been buried under the horrible dung pile of economic news. You know, in a way I don’t blame him. I’m not that big on that one particular issue, but I do know how he feels. There are a lot of issues, important ones, that are being buried under this economic avalanche. Sure the economies important, but let’s face facts, if the economy was good, or even if it just improved enough here over the next few months that its not quite so crappy, Obama gets credit for it and probably sails to re-election. Because basically that’s all most voters care about. Lost in the discussion is all those issues that have their own degrees of importance and that mark various angles of the philosophical divide between the left and the right. As long as times are good, way too many people just don’t care about 2nd Amendment issues, the global climate change scam, the leftist indoctrination of kids in all levels of education, the list goes on and on.
