Denver Post Quotes @DaTechGuyBlog About @OccupyDenver at #BlogCon11

More than a dozen protesters who say they are part of Occupy Denver disrupted a conservative blogger conference in downtown Denver this afternoon and one man was led away in handcuffs, witnesses say.
Information about the man who was arrested for trespassing was unavailable but witnesses at the Blogcon 2011 conference say he shoved a police officer who was trying to clear the group of out of the lobby at the Crowne Plaza hotel.
Attendees of Blogcon say they knew Occupy Denver was going to try to disrupt their conference because the group had advertised their intentions on Twitter. . . .
The disruption began around 2 p.m. during a data visualization seminar in one of the ballrooms. A few of the protesters tried to charge the ballroom doors to get inside. . . .
But people attending the conference had already started to notice unusual activity by a number of people in the hotel’s lobby and they began to film them, said Peter Michael Dominic Ingemi, a talk show host.
“They started bantering back and forth,” he said. “We all had video. They were filming us and we were filming them.”
Occupy Denver protesters yelled out “We are the 99 percent” and Blogcon attendees yelled back “We want the dog!”
Pete is, of course, Da Tech Guy, who tells the story of the Occupy invasion and includes this video:
The Denver Post story also quotes Tabitha Hale, who hates me.
UPDATE: Conservative Hideout has more video, and we’re linked by The Lonely Conservative, who let me and Da Tech Guy crash at her house in October 2010 when we were covering Ann Marie Buerkle’s campaign.
UPDATE II: Welcome, Instapundit readers! When I talked to Pete earlier, he was puzzled as to why he wasn’t getting much traffic on his blog. Explanation: He had gotten in a hurry and misspelled Denver in the title. When he corrected the spelling, he changed the URL, so my link to him wasn’t throwing traffic. That’s been fixed, but he probably won’t notice my traffic now that he’s got the Instalanche, too.
Bob Belvedere at Camp of the Saints uses the word “soviet” to describe Occupy Denver and, if you know anything useful about Soviet history, you realize that his usage is accurate. Of course, nobody in the “Occupy” movement knows anything about the history they’re doomed to repeat — as farce, to quote their philosophical godfather.

If anything, @rsmccain, I daresay @pinkelephantpun is as tired of being accused of hating as we all are tired of being accused of raaaaacism.

“We want the dog!”
Is this the tail that wags the dog? I am not sure what this means.

Oddly enough being called a hater doesn’t bother me or a raaaaacist for that matter, always consider the source.

Occupy Denver elected Shelby the dog as their “leader”. This shows a glimmer on sense on their part, as she is clearly the smartest, wisest, and hardest-working soul available.
She was not involved in this incident, but all the bloggers knew of her, and enjoyed mocking Occupy Denver by demanding the dog immensely.

Thank you. I forgot about that. That was Denver.
Yeah, I bet it is actually a pretty good dog.

“glimmer on sense on their part” or
glimmer of sense on their part

Yeah, but she’ll probably end up with Rabies or Parvo from hanging with that crowd. Most look like they haven’t had their shots – or a flea bath.

The hotel just lets this go on in their hallways? Book a convention with them, and put up with the bums who wander in from the street?
If that’s the no-frills rental package, the paying customers should handle it themselves. But it looks like they only invited facilitator types. Couldn’t watch the vid to the end, it was just too much bedlam and no heads being cracked.
There’s the third possibility you weren’t invited, Stacy. The unpublished rule that you must either use a douche, or be one.

I meant to write, ” a glimmering of sense on their part”, and my fingers wandered or my brain farted.
I shall fix it.
November 11th, 2011 @ 11:43 pm
The hotel can’t keep them out of the lobby. It’s up to the guests not to admit them to the hallways, evidently.

Robert Stacy McCain, you are a very important blogger. Why, if they was to give all bloggers titles according to their levels of importance, you would have to be the Blog Majority Leader (ahem)
November 12th, 2011 @ 8:36 am
They are certainly allowed to keep them out of their lobbies and off their property, and the city is or should be obliged to evacuate them by force if necessary. This is all such bullshit. Heads should be cracked.
November 12th, 2011 @ 9:04 am
Ah. Now we get to the real “enemies” of Occupy Wall Street. Conservatives. Those who disagree with them. And those who understand the meaning of a bar of soap.
Stacy, I’ve got nothing but love for ya. 🙂

The hotel must allow people to enter the lobby in order to inquire about room availability – Federal anti-discrimination law requires this.
Technically if the mob is not their to inquire about accommodations (or ask for a job application) then the hotel can ask them to leave. But practically speaking they weren’t going to go that route and make themselves a target for an activist lawsuit.
All of which only points up the absolute hypocrisy of the protesters. They get away with a ton of crap because they know the legal system is stacked in their favor, whereas the law abiding property owners are the ones who should prevail in any sort of public nuisance actions, but in reality know they are powerless against local government sympathetic to the real purpose of all this street theatre.

Tolerating lawlessness inevitably leads to more of it and more general lawlessness. This is what happened in the sixties and seventies.

I love you too, man — in a manly, John Wayne-ish, Clint Eastwood-ish kind of way.
November 12th, 2011 @ 2:26 pm
Fine, then they should allow them to come in and ask about room availability, and then if they refuse to leave heads should be cracked. Also, its time to change a lot of laws.
