Suck of the Titans

Posted on | April 5, 2010 | 10 Comments

“Overall, the movie suggested that the eighth grade AV club had somehow gotten its hands on a CGI studio,” says Megan McArdle, who calls the remake of Clash of the Titans “one of the worst movies I’ve seen in years.” Assuming she also saw Avatar, that means we could be talking about a historic breakthrough in 3-D suckage.

I just wish Megan would post a photo of herself wearing those cardboard 3-D glasses.

Well, the trouble with MM is not that she is ignorant, (after all, who with an Ivy League degree could be considered ignorant) but that she knows so much that isn’t so.

Damn this woman McArdles my blood. You should be ashamed to quote her. Moderate Libertarian or Classical Liberal , my left nut.

Actually, I rather liked the movie. The 3D was a nice addition to the movie experience, not the experience itself. Avatar will purely suck on video, even Blu-ray, especially since it is not being released in 3D till late 2010. The first release this month is non-3D. And if it is with the red/green glasses, bigger suckage.

On the flip side, Clash really mish mashes the mythology, and the writers really made some shat up. Still, it is worth seeing in the theaters in 3D, at least during an afternoon reduced price matinee.

Unlike the krakens, which were released, this movie escaped!

I was a little peeved about the mythology rewrite but it wasn’t that bad of a movie overall. I mean come on, it’s ‘Clash of the Titans’. The only other movie that topples this ultimate cheese is ‘BeastMaster’. Now that’s a remake just waiting to happen.

The 1981 Clash of the Titans was horrible as well. I’m not surprised this one follows suit.
