Gang-Raped for ‘Democracy’?

“We were then assaulted by a crowd of men. I was beaten by a group of youngsters and adults who tore my clothes. . . [I was molested in a way that] would be considered rape. . . Some people tried to help me but failed. I was lynched. It lasted three quarters of an hour before I was taken out. I thought I was going to die.”
Caroline Sinz, French TV reporter, describing how she was assaulted while covering protests in Cairo

“When I see the spirit of liberty in action, I see a strong principle at work; and this, for a while, is all I can possibly know of it. . . . I must be tolerably sure, before I venture publicly to congratulate men upon a blessing, that they have really received one. . . . The effect of liberty to individuals is that they may do what they please: we ought to see what it will please them to do, before we risk congratulations, which may be soon turned into complaints.”
Edmund Burke, Reflections on the Revolution in France (1790)

Some people become so obsessed by intellectual abstractions — “liberty,” “equality,” “social justice,” “human rights,” etc. — that they can ignore or accept even the most catastrophic consequences of their good intentions. For too many people, ideas are like idols, to be worshipped without doubt, no matter how many corpses are piled up at the bloody altars of their fanatical cults.

“Democracy” is one such intellectual idol, and imposing this idea on the rest of the world has become a bipartisan pursuit of our political establishment, an idée fixe exercising such a dominant influence over our foreign policy that no matter how many wild-goose chases we make, or how often the will-o’-th’-wisp eludes our frantic grasp, we never tire of the effort. So it was that I thought of Burke’s sober caution when I saw Donald Douglas’s post “Sharia Revolution in Egypt,” with this video:

Democracy is, as Burke would say, “a strong principle” and we ought to observe the effects of democracy in Egypt before we risk offering congratulations to the Egyptians. The effects observed so far don’t exactly inspire confidence that the Egyptians have really received a blessing, and recent headlines are troubling:

Muslim medical students boycotting lectures
on evolution… because it ‘clashes with the Koran’

Daily Mail

Arab League Approves Sanctions Against Syria
— New York Times

Suspected Islamists bomb police station, bank in Nigeria
Agence France Presse

Taliban paid £100 a month to stop fighting
Telegraph

Fond hopes about the “Arab Spring” seem likely to be as ill-founded as were the similar hopes of “Recovery Summer.”

Democracy at its root meaning is mob rule. But you knew that already.

And we continue to send blonde, good-looking, un-burqua’d female journalists into Islamic countries because…why again?  Guess the networks think gang rapes make for great ratings.  >:(

Except they don’t report it, and if they do they use euphemistic terms.

Our system of government was supposed to care about the individual – that’s why we would rather let  some guilty go free rather than convict and execute one innocent man. But under leftism, they’d rather all the women be raped, and tell them to be silent, rather than talk to the cops, or get in the way of the ’cause.’ (Yes, mixing Middle East and #Occupy)

But we’re supposed to believe that islam is peaceful and only wonderful freedom loving new countries will result from pushing out relatively secular rulers and replacing them with the genocidal islamic supremacist terrorist jihadi Muslim Brotherhood – the media says so, and they wouldn’t lie to us, right? Right?

Man, if you’d combine this article with a candidate poll that doesn’t include Ron Paul, you’d crush the server.

Uhh, I mean, the Arab Spring is fake.

One more point for the Left’s infatuation with the “Arab Spring” – as Egypt, Libya, and Tunisia are falling to the radicals, and Syria’s fate may well be the same, with Iran pulling the strings on their marionettes across the region.

The fatal error of the Israel-hating Left and the Democracy-deluded Right in the region remains the unshakable belief that given a single democratic election without the first foundation of the necessary conditions for democracy to succeed (rule of law, equality under the law, independent judiciary, right to contract enforceable under law, and right to private property), even barbarians dedicated to a death cult will behave civilly.

Just because it has never been known to occur in the past . . .

Question: Who sent this woman on assignment? A male editor? Did she get it from the top or did she pitch the story herself? I am really curious. At this point, it is insanity for a woman journalist to volunteer for this assignment and unfathomable for a man to send her. I don’t care how loud a woman would scream “Sexist!” for a man to say, “No. You are not going there. I’m sending a man.”

No matter how strong a woman may think she is, it’s tough to fight against forty Islamofascists and 80 hands.

After all the rapes that happened with the #Occupy movement, you really didn’t need to mix the two.

I honestly think they do it to prove their multicultural tolerance bonafides. It’s their way of saying look, we have nothing to fear from Islam, it really is a religion of peace and tolerance. When something like this happens, then naturally it has nothing to do with Islam, its just a few thugs.

Hell, if I were a producer or editor it wouldn’t be ‘sexist’ because I also wouldn’t send a reporter who wore a yarmulke or a pasty white guy.
