Not-Mitt Protest Vote Registered In VA

by Smitty

The Virginia GOP needs a personality transplant. 400 years on into the existence of the state, we have a GOP so sclerotic as to serve up one vote with a choice of two candidates. I was the only one in the room, and outnumbered 6:1 by poll workers. Way to excite people about representative democracy, people! The big sign by the check-in, where, in a feat of brutal, overt, raaaaacist voter suppression, I presented a driver’s license and stated my full name and address, stated in huge black letters words to the effect: “Write-in candidates are not permitted per Virginia Law [numbers]”.

Hopefully the not-Mitt candidate does well enough here, and the other not-Mitt candidates elsewhere, so that the GOP gets the message that this vaguely rigged seeming process is going to be the death of it. Or maybe the rebirth. I have joined the local Republican Committee, where we can hopefully, over time, circulate some blood in a purportedly red state that’s looking kinda old and purple these days.

Also, putting all of the primary votes on the same day would seem a tad bit more efficient, both in terms of set-up for the vote and participation. It’s almost as though Virginia’s GOP overlords don’t really care much for participation.

Good on ya, Smitty! Into the lion’s den by joining the state GOP. I can tell you that the beast will not go quietly into the night, in fact, if you are serious about change, you will find yourself struggling to ride the tiger without getting eaten by it!
We thought we had a Tea party takeover in NH, but the establishment wallets snapped shut, and the plotting began: Judases emerged, and our new chairman lasted barely six months. Line up lots of support, and be prepared for an existential struggle.
    Godspeed, Smitty, and BE Breitbart!

I voted too this morning.  My wife and I split our votes between the two candidates.  I also took a little issue with you on my blog.  http://www.nakedvillainy.com/index.php/archive/stupor-tuesday/

For what it’s worth folks, my Norton 360 security software has blocked the link above as a “malicious web site.”

By voting for the “not Mitt candidate,” you just gave your endorsement to Islamist-loving Ron Paul.

Hear the latest?  (Of course this won’t get reported at TheOtherMcCain which is soft on Paulism).  One of Ron Paul’s supporters was just busted up in north Jersey for co-conspiring in the recent terrorist attacks on Jewish synagogues.  And there’s a photo out of the bastard.  Oh, and he has an Arabic name, thought that politicall incorrect fact is being ignored by the media.

I dare Soft on Ron Paul TheOtherMcCain site to report on this.

There is not a snowball’s chance chopped into lines on the Resolute Desk that the Little Lootin’ Lizard will get elected.  It’s a safe protest vote.

    How naive.

So because the candidate you’re not shilling for was too incompetent and disorganized to get on the ballot, it’s all the Establishment’s fault?  Are you channeling Al Sharpton?

The process is not rigged, it’s just that the NotRomney’s suck.  Mitt would have been easily put away had some better talent stepped up.  Right now, Romney’s biggest competition is a guy who lost his last Senate election by 20 points and wants to make birth control among married Protestants an issue in his campaign.

It’s over, and just because a candidate’s name in NotRomney, it doesn’t automatically mean they’re a better conservative.  Santorum is the embodiment of everything the TeaParty is against.

I don’t know exactly what Santorum  and Gingrich were doing while Romney was crisscrossing the country stumping for Republican candidates and rounding up money,  but if the establishment is in the tank for him, it has something to do with the fact that he paid his dues and did his homework. He came to the starting line  race saddled  up and ready to race.
If Santorum and Gingrich didn’t, they have no one to blame but themselves.   Ron Paul the perennial also-ran got himself on the ballot, so were the requirements really all that impossible?

Smitty, you don’t seem to have any doubts about the ability to change the RNC, and I wanted t o point out the effect of the TEA Party here in Michigan.  I’m not being sarcastic, either.  The party screwed Santorum out of a delegate here,  and the head of the Michigan GOP is very much on the hot seat about it.  4 years ago, he would have been untouchable.   If he thinks this won’t come up when its time to reelect the chair, he’s mistaken.

Naked Villainy is not a malicious website, but Norton might well be one. They always struck me as the protection racket of web security. Get MacAffee, they just saved my ass from a virus I almost clicked on to from an e-mail which was a YouTube forgery.

Smitty, since you live in Virginia, have you noticed how much of a presence Paul has in the state? Has he actually been trying to win the state against his good buddy Mitt, or has he been hanging back with nothing but a nominal token campaign at best. Inquiring minds want to know what’s going on between these two, and you are in a position to tell us.

Smitty, I don’t suppose that sign spelled out the penalty for doing a write-in in SPITE of their jack-boot dictate. Because if there is no penalty….

I thought your standard reply was now “So?”

The “soft on Paulism” thing, however, is risible. I think the AntiPaulbot stuff is going to backfire on the GOP, however.

Right now, Romney’s biggest competition is a guy who lost his last Senate election by 20 points and wants to make birth control among married Protestants an issue in his campaign.

Are you guys tired of peddling the same b.s. time and time and time again? First, Romney would have lost his last election by 20 had he bothered running.  Second, Santorum is not the one bringing up these issues, so quit pretending that he is.

Santorum is the embodiment of everything the TeaParty is against.Really?  You mean the tea party is against lower taxes, reforming Entitlements, deficit reduction, and generally reducing the size of government?  Boy, the things you learn on the internet.

The Virginia GOP moved their Presidential Primary up to Super Tuesday to get more influence in the race.  It’s too early for the state races (basically Congress, most state offices are elected in odd years) to have primaries.

The shocker is this was already the case before they moved it up since the last time.  The other offices have had a later date ever since they’ve held a Presidential Primary, I believe.

In any case, how could Virginia know that so many of the 2012 class of candidates would be too incompetent to achieve what Alan Keyes did in 2000 or Dennis Kucinich in 2008 (along with all the GOP field that year) under stricter guidelines (last 4 digits of SSN were required before this year)?

I mean, don’t you have to figure that candidates to be President will demonstrate some minimal level of competence?

Gingrich supporters are urging VA voters to vote for Paul. If they really put a whole lot of effort into it that could have a real impact.

Dondero– go crawl back to the hole from which you came.  Good for you Smitty!  Of course, given the other options, to me Ron Paul would have been the obvious choice even with all four candidates on the ballot.
