Congressman Allen West (R-FL) appeared on the Sean Hannity Show September 14 to discuss terrorist attacks on United States embassies in many countries where Islam is the dominant religion. “We’re operating in fantasy land,” West said. “What you see coming from President Obama and the Obama administration is what they call dhimmitude in the Islamic world.”

‘Arab Spring’ Anniversary: Egypt Legalizes Sex With Dead Wives, Marriage at 14
Such legislation might have been predicted once the Islamic Brotherhood took charge:
Egyptian husbands will soon be legally allowed to have sex with their dead wives — for up to six hours after their death.
The controversial new law is part of a raft of measures being introduced by the Islamist-dominated parliament.
It will also see the minimum age of marriage lowered to 14 and the ridding of women’s rights of getting education and employment.
So if you’re an Egyptian guy and your 14-year-old wife turns you down for sex, just kill her and get “one for the road,” eh?
Via Memeorandum with commentary by Gateway Pundit, The Jawa Report, Weasel Zippers, Atlas Shrugs and Clayton Cramer.
UPDATE: Mark Steyn at the Corner:
Gotta hand it to the Muslim Brotherhood. Hard to come up with a more apt image of the Arab Spring than an aroused Islamist rogering a corpse.
New Robert Spencer Book Promises To Be An Interesting Read On Islam
by Smitty
That’s a provocative title:
“Far from an anti-Islamic polemic, Did Muhammad Exist? is a sober and unflinching look at the origins of one of the world’s major religions. While Judaism and Christianity have been subjected to searching historical criticism for more than two centuries, Islam has, astonishingly, never received the same treatment on any significant scale.” |
I doubt this work will trigger any real criticism. My theory is that the Postmodern Left views Islam as a wrecking ball for their anti-Enlightenment effort. Radical Islam, anyway, view the Postmodern Left as enablers. Each thinks the other a tool, and both are correct.
Update: to Bill Quick’s question, I meant ‘real criticism’ of Islam. You could also, if you say that ‘real criticism’ refers to genuine dialogue with an idea to improving understanding, say that Spencer won’t receive real criticism, either. That Spencer will receive his umpteenth napalm shower of jingoistic blowback, one can be certain.
Muslim Calls Republicans ‘Extremists’; Muslim Extremist Attacks U.S. Embassy
October 28th, Tampa Bay Online posts a column by Hassan Shibly, J.D., a Muslim activist and the executive director of CAIR-Tampa, calling Adam Hasner and Allen West extremists. A few hours after this column is posted a Muslim gunman, in Sarajevo, Bosnia opens fire on the American embassy. . . .
According to Reuters, “The gunman was wounded by a police sniper during the attack in Sarajevo’s busy downtown, in which a police officer was seriously wounded and shop workers scrambled for cover. Bosnian television identified the man, bearded and carrying a Kalashnikov assault rifle, as 23-year-old Mevlid Jasarevic, a Serbian citizen from the mainly Muslim town of Novi Pazar.”
CAIR says it is “extremist” to be concerned about Islamic extremism and yet, every day, jihadis around the world are plotting to kill Americans.
Aren’t you glad Saqib Ali and Khuram Zaman warned you about “an extremist right-wing blogger” speaking today in Annapolis, Maryland?
No Surprise: Sharia Law in Libya
What “liberation” means in the Islamic world:
Mustafa Abdul-Jalil, the chairman of the National Transitional Council and de fact president, had already declared that Libyan laws in future would have Sharia, the Islamic code, as its “basic source”. …
Mr Abdul-Jalil went further, specifically lifting immediately, by decree, one law from Col. Gaddafi’s era that he said was in conflict with Sharia — that banning polygamy.
In a blow to those who hoped to see Libya’s economy integrate further into the western world, he announced that in future bank regulations would ban the charging of interest, in line with Sharia.
Wow. How shocking. Who could have possibly predicted this?
Plot Was ‘Not Reflective of a Particular Culture, Community or Religion’
Curious statement from U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz:
“I want the public to understand that Mr. Ferdaus’ conduct, as alleged in the complaint, is not reflective of a particular culture, community or religion. In addition to protecting our citizens from the threats and violence alleged today, we also have an obligation to protect members of every community, race, and religion against violence and other unlawful conduct.”
Hmmmm. What “particular culture, community or religion” was not reflected in the acts of 26-year-year-oid Rezwan Feradaus? Obviously, the U.S. Attorney must be afraid that some people will use this to cast aspersions on . . . Northeastern University physics students, perhaps? Rock band drummers?
Mass. musician accused of D.C. terrorist plot
Yeah, that’s the headline at CBS News, because what’s headline-worthy about Ferdaus is that he was a musician from Massachusetts:
Ferdaus, an U.S. citizen and Northeastern University graduate, went by the name “Bollywood” when he played in a Massachusetts band. However, U.S. officials say the drummer is also a self-radicalized jihadist, intent on attacking Americans in the U.S. and overseas.
Wait — what? A “self-radicalized jihadist,” you say? And what else?
[H]e repeatedly told the agents that he was driven to kill Americans which he called “enemies of Allah.”
Killing “enemies of Allah”? It almost sounds as if Rezwan Ferdaus was acting on behalf of “a particular culture, community or religion.” But what sort of “a particular culture, community or religion” could that be?
Terror Arrest: Muslim Rezwan Ferdaus
Planned Attacks on Pentagon and Capitol
Thanks, Jim Hoft. We never would have guessed that Rezwan Feradus was a Lutheran if it hadn’t been for . . .
Wait — what? Muslim, you say?
First time for everything, I suppose. We’ve had so many violent terror attacks by Northeastern University physics students and rock drummers, that it’s always surprising to learn strange new things.
Muslim jihadists want to kill Americans as enemies of Allah. Who knew?
‘Ground Zero Mosque’ Money Man Accused in Insurance Fraud Scheme
Hisham Elzanaty
A story you will never see covered on the nightly network news:
Allstate has become the latest insurance company to accuse Hisham Elzanaty, one of the money men behind the so-called Ground Zero mosque development, of orchestrating a “highly developed and sophisticated kickback scheme” that allegedly reaped more than $5 million for Elzanaty and others. State Farm and Geico have also lodged similar allegations against Elzanaty.
You never would have heard of this story if I Own the World hadn’t picked it up from an insurance industry news site, and if it hadn’t been sent to me as an e-mail tip by Linda in Tennessee.
BTW, Linda is a tip-jar hitter — are you?
Pamela Geller Linked by New York Times
Not in a good way, but by a couple of Norwegian writers blaming her (and “Islamophobia”) for the Oslo massacre:
Hatred of Muslims and resentment of the left — one of us has repeatedly received resentful diatribes against the “multiculturalist elite,” and was mentioned in Mr. Breivik’s own writings — is not confined to Norway. Mr. Breivik has praised Gates of Vienna, a Web site that compares contemporary Europe to long-ago wars with the Ottomans. He has praised writers like Bruce Bawer, the American author of “While Europe Slept: How Radical Islam is Destroying the West from Within,” and Bat Ye’Or, the pseudonym for the British author of the conspiratorial “Eurabia: The Euro-Arab Axis.” He is an enthusiastic reader of the virulently anti-Islamic blog of Pamela Geller, an American who leads the group “Stop Islamization of America” and gained notoriety for her opposition to an Islamic center near ground zero in Manhattan.
Europe’s new right is, in other words, not neo-Nazi; it has swapped anti-Semitism for Islamophobia. After a hiatus of several hundred years, fear of Islam reemerged around 1989, as the Cold War was ending and Iranian mullahs issued a fatwa against the British writer Salman Rushdie. It gained popularity as increasing numbers of Muslims entered Europe as immigrants in the 1990s, and became widespread in the aftermath of 9/11. Traditional racism may actually be waning in several European countries, but hostility toward Islam and animosity toward Muslim immigrants and their children is on the rise. . . .
At least the authors don’t pretend that “hostility toward Islam” arose without any provocation.
The question, I’d say, is which is the greater danger: Islamicization or Islamophobia? And if you believe the former is the greater danger, then the latter is actually rational — even when it presents itself in “virulent” fashion.
