Liberal Feature; Conservative Bug

by Smitty

Asymmetries seem to abound these days:

Already Walker has been dogged by alleged improprieties regarding campaign finance laws during the recall campaign and a lack of transparency as county executive
“This is a guy who has literally been in elective office his entire adult life,” said a strategist for one rival campaign. “He has made his living off the government sector, the taxpayer. He has never really, to my knowledge, had any kind of serious existence outside of the public sector.”

Are you also old enough to remember when, say, Her Majesty’s existence as either a public creature or a lawyer was totally a feature? Demoness you know, and all.

Thought experiment: make a reality show where serious candidates have to demonstrate actual problem solving skills. I want to see candidates demonstrate actual:

  • literacy
  • imagination
  • general knowledge
  • leadership
  • stamina
  • stewardship
  • wisdom

The more I think about it, the more some kind of a “Survivor”-style winnowing seems like it could be useful. Not that there is any hope of improvement over the current morass.

The concern about Walker peaking early is well-founded, but I think it’s a feature to get him out there in an early sprint, identify some areas to polish, and see if he is serious about the marathon. Sad to say it, for a variety of reasons, Sarah Palin does not seems to have had the needed  endurance.

Of course, these are only issues for a conservative. At the worse-is-better end of the spectrum, the liberals seem to come up with new to paganisms. On the one hand, I hope somebody duped Her Majesty’s email queue. On the other hand, finding out just how criminal she really was is likely to be TMI by half. I love my country, and finding out about new whoredoms isn’t to be relished.

Hey, @natashavc, Sorry Your Dishonest Scott Walker Smear Got Breitbarted

Breitbart (verb) — to expose dishonesty or corruption in a way that destroys the elite media’s preferred narrative, especially when done by a citizen-journalist.

Example: “Brian Cates totally Breitbarted that Walker smear.”

20 seconds of Googling would have cleared up what was going on here, but it was apparently more important to some to rush a piping hot new Walker smear out the door before doing any due diligence.

Jezebel’s “senior political reporter” Natasha Vargas-Cooper got Breitbarted, exposed as a dishonest and corrupt partisan hack, by a guy who did 20 seconds of Googling. Darleen Click:

“But hey, facts don’t matter when a White Patriarchal Werewolf must be defeated at all costs!”

Feminists and Democrats have so much in common — no standards, no integrity and no shame. Their sole principle is the selfish pursuit of power. Somebody should write a book about this.

Will No One Rid Us Of This Turbulent Godbag Christofascist Scott Walker?

by Smitty

Via HotAir headlines, this blog must chip in and do its part to support raising awareness of the danger of Scott Walker. John Cassidy’s so-called attack on Walker in The New Yorker was so tepid as to invite the question of whether Cassidy is actually a stealth admirer. Let’s see if we can’t be a helpy helper-blog (original text in italics):

Let’s stipulate up front that Scott Walker, the governor of Wisconsin, is an odious politician whose ascension to the Presidency would be a disaster.

“Odious” and “disaster” hardly seem to capture the breadth of what’s going on here. Let’s see if we can crank the hyperbole up a bit, shall we?

OMFG, Scott Walker is the political equivalent of Godzilla, and his Presidency would be a four-year Stephen King stream of consciousness!

Our readers should be clutching their pearls in fear and inching toward the fainting couch straight away. Are we warming to the task? Yes! Yes, we are:

Set aside, for a moment, his repeated refusal, in the past few days, to say whether he believes that President Obama loves America, or whether he believes that the President is a Christian, and look instead at Walker’s record running what used to be one of America’s more progressive states. Having cut taxes for the wealthy and stripped many of Wisconsin’s public-sector unions of their collective-bargaining rights, he is now preparing to sign a legislative bill that would cripple unions in the private sector. Many wealthy conservatives, such as the Koch brothers, who have funnelled a lot of money to groups supporting Walker, regard him as someone who’s turning his state into a showcase for what they want the rest of America to look like.

See, now, this paragraph is hardly Koch-tacular enough. Steroids, please:

No detail is too small for his reign of anti-Progressive, Jurrasic hate. From rejecting Evolution to the President’s affection for the country to Obama’s painstakingly measured, abstract affection generally directed at the Diety, Walker is the Spleen Of Infinite Dumping! But, like some vast lizard of old, these teensy hersies are just tiny twists of the knife compared to what he’s done to Sacred Unions, public and private. Walker-zilla wants to sacrifice them, Tokyo-style, on his altar of contempt for the 40 hour work week, and all the other good things that organized labor has done for this country! And it’s all at the behest of those hellspawn Kochs, who are so diabolical that they make Beelze-Bush the Anti-Clinton look like the adorable Wendy Davis. Could she by, say, May, play Fay Wray, lay gay lei on Walker-Kong, and move a real scandal along?

Hopefully Cassidy will read that last sentence and kiss this blog’s assonance. More:

But just how threatening is he? If you’ve been following the political news during the past week, you may well have the impression that he’s stumbling in his campaign for the 2016 G.O.P. nomination. Among the political commentariat, the consensus of opinion is that Walker’s repeated refusal to distance himself from Rudy Giuliani’s incendiary comments about Obama, and his subsequent encounter with the Washington Post’s Dan Balz and Robert Costa, during which he appeared to question Obama’s religious faith and took some shots at the media for asking him silly questions, weren’t merely reprehensible: they were serious gaffes that raised questions about Walker’s political abilities.

Again, this prose is hardly turgid enough to hold this badger-wolf at bay. But this blog goes to 11!

Has he threatened you? Personally? With a sharpened piece of rebar? He could. He’s the quiet type that sure seems like he’d be a good neighbor, until the first responders start rolling in, sirens blaring. But do you want to know why he failed to rip Giuliani’s beating, raaaaacist, hate-filled heart from Rudy’s aged torso on command from the media? Because, behind that little PK façade, Scott Walker is actually a Priest of Cthulhu! Pinky swear. Giuliani, too. All these GOP elite are, according to The DailyHuffingtonDogVox.com. So there was no way Walker could do anything other than join in the chant and scheme the rejection of all that our President holds dear. Dangerous? Does Sarah Palin say “You betcha?”. Stop. These. Reprehensible. Madman. He is the greatest existential threat to the ascension of Her Majesty (Peace Be Upon Her) next year.

One could go on, but duty calls. Pray for all of our officials. The ones in office, the ones that may yet be elected. The ones you favor, but especially the ones you don’t (1Tim2).
Also, shout out to MKH for “Godbag Christofascist“.
If you want, you can wade through the rest of Cassidy’s rant.

Uncertainty Over Someone’s Faith Triggers Race Card? Only In Kosreich

by Smitty

Shaun King, at DailyKos: The underlying racism in Gov. Scott Walker questioning whether or not President Obama is a Christian

Click image to to to Giorgio A. Tsoukalos's site
Racism and slavery were commonplace in Rome, and we know where all roads lead, don’t we?

*Sigh*. No, Shaun. Uncertainty regarding the faith of another, particularly one with whom you’ve not actually spoken, prayed, and studied, is a straight play for one of Baptist ilk. Beside Walker, there are plenty of other public figures laying claim to being Baptist (Al Gore, Bill Clinton) that one hopes are saved. As with the case of BHO, the deeds kinda seem at variance with the words on occasion. But, hey, we all shank it, don’t we? (1 John) Which is why the repentance is key. Right. Well, moving on, the real point here is that, while the bulk of Baptists don’t believe one is any more capable of un-salvation than salvation in the first place, most Baptists with whom I’ve ever spoken aren’t 100% confident in anyone else’s salvation.

Two words: Judas Iscariot.

You can have words aplenty. You can have deeds. You can have credentials and offices. You can have your own assurance (and I do). You can even take my word concerning myself. But until we meet in Eternity, you’re best off not pushing the question past “really confident” or “I don’t know”.

And I don’t know Scott Walker personally, either. He’s certainly not one to wear his religiosity on his sleeve a la Mike Huckabee. (I’m confident Huckabee is saved, but I’d really, really, really like to hear why that chap, after having been called to the ministry, would take a demotion and get into politics. Makes you go “Hmmm”, as a Baptist.)

Back to King:

In spite of all of this, including the reality that [Obama] is a devoted and faithful husband and father, Scott Walker, and now a growing chorus of conservatives, are just flat out stating that President Obama isn’t a Christian at all.

Notice, though, that you will never hear conservatives question the Christianity of Rudy Giuliani or Rush Limbaugh—in spite of the reality that both of them have been married seven times between them and refuse to really discuss any active aspects of their faith.

Why is it that Walker and others are so willing to doubt the Christianity of a good and faithful man who openly details and professes his faith, but never question the Christianity of men who struggle with morality and family values and don’t really speak at all on whether or not faith matters to them in the least bit?

It’s racism.

Couple of points: Walker did not, himself, question the President’s Christianity. As I’ve explained here, Walker was coloring within lines reasonable for a Baptist, though you’d have to ask Walker himself if he buys off on my analysis. Here’s the funny part, King: Walker is likely to answer in a similar way for both Giuliani (Roman Catholic) and Rush Limbaugh (no faith listed on Wikipedia).

Is it a bit much to ask King to spend some time actually researching the subject and the people involved? I don’t doubt that the President has said he is Christian. I rather hope to see the fellow in Eternity, where there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed, because this administration has been nothing if not a source of questions. And I don’t doubt that Walker is Christian, based on hearsay. If repetition counts as a score, I guess that Obama is more Christian than Walker. Has Obama been asked to judge Walker’s Christianity? Might Obama also offer an “above my paygrade” type answer?

Perhaps Mr. King can score an interview with the good President next month while the Israeli Prime Minister is all shootin’ the breeze with Congress and stuff.

Scott Walker: “It’s About Reform”

“I think what we’ve shown in Wisconsin is that it’s not about austerity — it’s about reform,” Walker said. “And what I mean by that is if we just come in our state and cut things across the board that means you cut your priorities as much as you cut things that aren’t quite as important. We reined in collective bargaining. We put more power back in the hands of the taxpayer at the state and the local level. I think nationally we need that same sort of reform no matter who is running for president. I’d slash the marginal tax rates for everyone across the board — go to a simpler, more flat tax.”

We should hasten to add that, in stark contrast to #OccupyResoluteDesk, Walker actually has a record of, you know, reforming.

The Christie GWB Scandal Bubble

You could tell the mainstream media had already decided on New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie as the “designated loser” Republican presidential nominee for 2016 by the way they reacted to the George Washington Bridge scandal. To give you an idea of the saturation coverage, here’s the top of Memeorandum as of noon ET today:

Now, to an extent, this reflects the New York-centric bias of the media. If you think back to 2007-2008, the media gave excessive coverage to the GOP presidential campaign of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, even though everyone who knew anything about the primary process knew that Giuliani was hopelessly doomed. Ditto, Governor Fatso, but because (a) the lane closings on the George Washington Bridge were local news in the NYC media market and (b) liberal idiots think Governor Fatso is a frontrunner for the 2016 GOP nomination, the coverage of this scandal has been completely over-the-top. Here’s what the top of Memeorandum looked like as of 12:35 p.m. ET Friday:

Keep in mind, we’re still 10 months away from the 2014 mid-term elections, where Republicans will be trying to capture the Senate and strengthen their House majority, so that this early 2016 talk is just a distraction from more urgent political news. But the mindless fascination with the quadrennial “Road the White House” overwhelms everything, with Salon.com’s eminent idiot Joan Walsh volunteering to lead the lemming parade:

Christie proudly admitted Thursday that courting Democratic officeholders and winning their endorsement was part of his plan to “run up the score” and win a resounding bipartisan mandate in his race against Barbara Buono. He clearly planned to ride that reputation for crossing party lines and getting things done into the White House in 2016.
And, to be fair, there are shades of that guy, like the Christie who just backed in-state college tuition for some undocumented high school graduates. But most of the time, Christie is a teacher-shaming, Planned Parenthood defunding, crony-hiring, Koch brother-admiring right-winger. He is also a bully, despite claiming otherwise at his two-hour pity party.
Now, with reporters combing over every detail that could explain why the governor’s top aides rained vengeance down on Fort Lee, they will . . . encounter many stories that deserve a full airing. In the best-case scenario for Christie, in which nothing comes out to show he either ordered Fort Lee’s four-day traffic plague or knew about it, he will still endure national exposure as a fiercely partisan bestower of patronage and punishment. It will scare off some donors and, maybe more important, embolden rivals for the GOP establishment’s blessing — Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, or Ohio’s John Kasich, or even Jeb Bush — to enter the ring.

Idiot. News flash for Joan Walsh: Scott Walker is almost certainly a “go” for the 2016 campaign, although he first must win re-election this November. As to whether he has “the GOP establishment’s blessing,” I can’t say, but Walker is a hero to many Tea Party activists who rallied to his support during the brutal 2011-2012 Wisconsin recall election fight.

The key for Walker, I believe, will be whether he can articulate a conservative position on immigration. To win over the grassroots in Iowa, South Carolina and Florida, Walker must strongly oppose the “comprehensive” amnesty plans currently being discussed by Republican leadership in Washington.

Conservatives remember the way Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s 2012 campaign melted down after his infamous “you don’t have a heart” remark in the Orlando debate. Scott Walker must avoid any confusion as to his opposition to amnesty if he wants to win in Iowa and beyond. Basically, I’d say, Walker should vet his immigration policy with Michelle Malkin and Iowa Rep. Steve King, and mark a clear line between himself and the Wall Street Journal/Chamber of Commerce open-borders lobby.

But talk about 2016 is premature. First we must fight the 2014 mid-terms, no matter what idiots like Joan Walsh say.
