Hmmm … can’t think of anyone.

There was that one guy from New York whom everyone though took terrorism seriously until he revealed on national television that he had completely forgotten about 9/11 (after campaigning for president for a year on the platform “a noun, a verb, 9/11,” even).

Are you talking about that guy there? The one who put his terrorism response HQ under the most likely target for terrorism? The one who held off on a unified communications scheme for police and fire departments for seven years, directly resulting in the deaths of hundreds of New York cops?

The idea that Rudy Giuliani has ever “taken terrorism seriously” as anything but a campaign crop is a thigh-slapper.

Whatever his shortcomings, I’ll take Rudy Giuliani over any pedantic neo-isolationist. I hope he returns to public service at some point.

I do have to say that I’m very happy with the situation in Massachusetts:

If Brown loses, the GOP establishment loses immediately, since he’s their candidate.

If Brown wins, on the other hand the GOP establishment loses this November. It’s unfortunate that they’ll take the tea party movement, which had so much potential, down with them, but sometimes a dog gets sick enough that the only thing you can do for it is take it around behind the barn and put it out of its misery.

If Coakley wins, it’s status quo ante, which sucks … but it’s better than the GOP getting yet another free “lesser evil” pass from pro-freedom folks when it runs a hack and when there’s a clearly superior candidate (Joe Kennedy) in the race.

After following the Mighty Subs link in a previous entry here at TOM, I ended up jonesing for steak and cheese. My large is smaller than their small (standard grocery store hoagie bun), so I had two. And a Kentucky Tavern and Pepsi, of course (Pepsi Throwback — don’t know if they’re selling it nationwide or not, it’s the old Pepsi with cane sugar instead of corn syrup).

With that headline…no Speedo jokes? Are you kidding me?
