LIVE Video: Scott Brown HQ; UPDATE: BROWN WINS! BROWN WINS!

Posted on | January 19, 2010 | 93 Comments

We are here at the posh Park Plaza hotel in downtown Boston and — thanks to our friends with 73 Wire — we’re livestreaming via Internet:

Free TV : Ustream

UPDATE 11:30 p.m.: (Smitty) Stacy just called me again, basking in the glow, and offered shouts out to:

  • Doug Hoffman in NY-23.  Stacy points out that Doug’s heroic, if Arthurian campaign, foiled by Dede le Fey at the last, helped pave the way for a different grail.  Doug got it in peoples’ minds that it wasn’t over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor the Left got the super-majority in the Senate.
  • The Tea Party movement (which is basically anyone who’s ever done so much as honk a horn while driving by a protest).
  • Michelle Malkin
  • Nathan Cossey
  • Barbara Espinoza
  • Dan Collins, whose book arrived today.  I skimmed the first ~20 pages while at Hard Times for a salad.  Great stuff.  Give dead tree offerings to the blog gawdz.
  • Da Tech Guy, who should no doubt write a book about tech guys getting dragged into political scenes, before I do.

UPDATE 10:06 p.m.: (Smitty) Stacy updates us via cel phone: Stacy McCain is out on the balcony at the HQ. 11+ network satellite trucks are visible in the street. When the Coakley concession was announced, the crowed chanted: “Kerry next!” Every Mass. Republican is in the building, enjoying the Martha Gras. This makes up for the heartbreaking NY-23 loss. WIFI is as functional in the building as this blog has been at various points the last couple of days. In other words, it’s broken. Ali Akbar of 73wire is a dead man, as he was supposed to have made the network arrangements. (The question is whether Smitty can make good his escape while Ali becomes acquainted with the underside of the bus.) RSM: “If Scott Brown can win this, anything is possible.” Ace of Spades is on scene, and has given Stacy vanilla pudding. AoS: “I’ve really got to have a cigarette” Other right-blogospheric all-stars present:

One other aside, as noted by Athens Runaway:

Coakley has hired Al Franken’s old fraud campaign lawyer, Mark Elias. Elias was hired by Franken, and Franken’s recount mysteriously found ballots in the back of cars, and other random places… after the election was well over.

We should always pray for a margin significant enough to minimize shenanigans. UPDATE 7:55 p.m.: Five minutes before polls close, I’ve just talked to a spokesman for the Brown campaign — it looks good. Clearly, they feel like they’ve got a winner here. Also, Ace of Spades is in the house. UPDATE: Ayla Brown, Rule 5, video with a certain well-known blogger.

I may sneak in for some free champagne. I want to see the wingnuts in their own microenvironment. It is like visiting the Galápagos. Evolution in action and all that stuff.

Plus if Pam Geller gets drunk, I might bust a move. She drives me insane with lust.

    RS,

If Alabama can win in Pasadena (ROLL TIDE!), Scott Brown can in MA. And of course, the GOP can win the San Fernando valley and the rest of the country (save for the Upper West Side of NYC and the Westside of LA).

This is 2010, anything is possible!

Give my regards to PG on Bloggers row! I’m still waiting to hear from Gary and Matt re:Fundraiser.

I have been watching Olbermann, because his tears are so delicous. They had a live shot of Matthews in some bar with two “sad” ladies on either side of him in the background. Then they panned out and people are laughing, making faces at Matthews, and even the “sad” women go out of character and one of them starts talking on her cell phone and doing the Carol Burnett pulling of the ear thing.

    It was awesome.

Words of wisdom, or just seeing the writing on the wall?

Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA) congratulated Brown on his win and delivered a zinger:

“In many ways the campaign in Massachusetts became a referendum not only on health care reform but also on the openness and integrity of our government process. It is vital that we restore the respect of the American people in our system of government and in our leaders. To that end, I believe it would only be fair and prudent that we suspend further votes on health care legislation until Senator-elect Brown is seated.”
