On the heels of Marco’s endorsement by Rudy Giuliani — Sorry Charlie made the always-dangerous mistake of double-crossing an Italian — the Rubio campaign rolls out this warm, positive ad:

UPDATE: Excuse me for recycling an old joke that even I’ve grown tired of, but . . . Allah hates me. I saw this Huffington-Giuliani video at Daily Caller and linked them when I posted at 12:33 p.m., cross-posted at Right Wing News and had it all over Twitter but, when Allah blogs it six hours later — after getting it from Newsbusters — there’s zero acknowledgement that anyone else has had it online all this time.

    Jenn: So long as Charlie was just a “permanent bachelor” — and not attacking fellow Republicans — I had zero interest in any discussion of his preferences. But when he got that “beard” marriage, arranged his dirty backroom deal with Cornyn and Greer, and then started slinging dirt at Marco . . .

    Well, don’t bring a knife to a gunfight, IYKWIMAITYD.

    Besides which, everybody who follows Florida politics has heard the same stuff about Crist. The Democrats are secretly cheering for Crist to win the GOP primary so they can then hit him with a gay scandal. And every Republican in Florida knows that, too, which is why everybody’s running away from Charlie as fast as they can.

    Of course, if Rubio wins the primary, the Democratic dirt diggers will surely unload stuff on him, too, but you won’t see any Dems bashing Rubio so long as there is still a chance Crist can win. Why? Because they know that Crist will be the easier of the two candidates to beat.

    In summary, Jenn, this isn’t homophobia, it’s just politics.
