VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: Republican Candidate Patrick Murray, VA-8 Stump Speech

This morning the Ken Cuccinelli introduction went up. Colonel Murray picks up and offers a solid speech, served up here in seven parts, plus a bit of dessert that is a fine sweetener for all, whether you have the privilege of supporting Lt. Col. Alan West, or the duty to run against the Wicked Witch of the West.

If you live in VA-8, or know someone who does, please circulate this post to as many as you know. We have an obligation to the rest of the country to support a great candidate in the struggle to retire “Gentleman” Jim Moran.

Clip one gets the speech going, and mentions the VAST voter turnout increase in the GOP primary.

Clip two explores motivation for service, and the effort to reach out to the people. Slight problem with this clip. In attempting to capture the candidate’s lateral movements, I’ve introduced a bunch of noise frames, due, I think, to the stabilization mode. The audio is good, and ends halfway through the clip. The video looks like it’s in slow-motion. A more elaborate editing suite could probably fix all this up. Welcome to learning your gear as you go.

Clip three gets into the talking points: debt, fiscal irresponsibility, health care and the 1099 lashes.

Clip four has more on the IRS expansion. The antidote to the fiscal irresponsibility is leadership.

I hacked out a 15 second pause but you can follow the link if you want, just so no-one thinks something is being hidden.

Clip five is missing a “We have. . .” at the start, and turns attention to “Gentleman” Jim.

Clip six, the big question: what is the strategy for victory? First two points are (a) the ground game, (b) the wind at the GOP backs.

Clip seven finishes the third point in the victory strategy: enthusiastic supporters. Mad blogs and Virginians. Roll credits for the supporters.

Clip eight features the Honorable Bill Cleveland stealing the show. I don’t know what Mr. Cleveland eats for breakfast, but I vote that we get Patrick Murray on that diet. 😉

The next three months will see this blog be a strong cheerleader for the local candidate. This is a tough district, but that’s no excuse not to pour time and resources into supporting a Constitutional revival in this country. There are people in 434 other Congressional Districts who deserve that sort of effort, as an apology for “Gentleman” Jim Moran, and as an encouragement: go and do thou likewise.

I will post this to get it seen in my neck of the woods. Well, our neck of the woods. You are too right, Moron, I mean Moran, needs to go.

Although I supported his opponent in the primary, I now know Patrick Murray is an awesome candidate who has the best organized campaign the 8th District has had since the early ’90’s. He is on track to raise more $$ than any candidate since that time as well.

His supporters are unified and enthusiastic, and demographically diverse. Murray’s fundraising events burst at the seams with overflow crowds. I was at the recent fundraiser in Alexandria in a huge mansion and we still couldn’t fit the close to 200 folks who attended – wall to wall contributors. I met 8 Democrats who are supporting Murray.

This is OUR time. Let’s send Jim Moran to K Street where he can get a cushy lobbying job!

Patrick Murray’s campaign for Congress rocks!

I supported Murray in his primary campaign because he understands & is willing to confront the critical issues facing us in the 8th. He doesn’t get caught up in a lot of nuanced political-speak but cuts right to the point: that we need an adult taking care of our money and our security. To those who continue to fuss about the primary I say: You’re either on the bus or off the bus.
