Apology for NSFW Rule 5 Sunday

As regular readers know, our trusty blog sidekick Smitty has been deployed as a REMF Stealth Ninja in an undisclosed location ending in “-stan.” At last report, the Admiral is currently (a) fighting the terrorist menace of bad Java scripts while (b) bitching about the lack of bandwidth.

In the meantime, Smitty’s usual weekend duties have been taken over by Wombat, who apparently neglected to read the fine print in the guidelines for “Rule 5 Sunday” entries. While I’ve managed to lose my copy of the guidelines in the incredible mess on top of my desk, my memory is clear that entries must adhere to a PG13 standard.

Which is to say: No nipples. No nookie. Nothing NSFW.

Understand that we’re not trying to be puritanical here. We are not anti-nookie, and we are certainly not anti-nipple. Especially the pink puffies with large aureolas.

But I digress.

The idea of Rule 5 Sunday is to provide some nice cheesecake. Bikinis are OK. Cleavage is OK. Lingerie is OK. Especially the white lacy kind with pink ribbons.

But I digress.

We must, however, draw the line at outright nudity. Unfortunately, a certain blogger who shall remain nameless submitted a post that included photos of women who were in a most shameless state of dishabile, so as not only to display the entirety of their extremely large breasts, but also providing unsuspecting readers with a shocking glimpse of their Brazilian-waxed naughty parts. And this gratuitous naughtiness was inadvertantly linked by Wombat in the Rule 5 Sunday post.

We regret this unfortunate error, and will try to avoid future errors. As a public service to the blogging community, we provide the following example of the type of photos which are not eligible for Rule 5 Sunday.

If you click on that image . . . Well, certainly we cannot be held responsible for what you might see. You have been warned!

    I did warn people. Maybe I wasn’t explicit enough in my warnings, but I thought people would understand the depths of horror and despair Cheeseheads were capable of when their beloved Pack is humiliated as bad as they were by the Lions. (And I don’t even follow football!)

    Duly noted, Boss…but I coulda sworn my copy of the Guidelines said NSFW pix were included under Rule 5. Unfortunately, my dog appears to have eaten my copy of the Guidelines, so I can’t confirm this at the moment.

    Just a random thought, perhaps if old Wombat were to be allowed the occasional “Shameless Sunday” feature all of his own (clearly labelled NSFW, of course) where it was understood by all that women in a shameless state of dishabile would be being linked to, then people of good conscience might reasonably be empowered to decide for themselves how many times they are going to click that link by unfortunate error, or not, as the case might be.

    As I say, just a thought for your further consideration.

    Rule Five posts are like the inestimable Mr Clements used to say about rain. “Climate is what you expect. Weather is what you get.”

    I expect PG 13 stuff, but am not surprised by anything. And I don’t do any of it from work, actually.

    I’ve seen a real woman, live and in person, so pictures don’t much matter to me, actually. But my IT folks at work? Apparently they have some hang-ups, so I’ll be careful.

    Keep in mind the fact that I’m the kid who was raised by and around a whole bunch of WWII veteran lifer Noncoms. My circuits for “shocked” or “offended” were burned out by the time I was about twelve years old.

    That doesn’t mean that I am approving of suchlike foolishness, but I’ve gotten over being bothered by it, too.

    “Yeek! A nekkid female! I’ll never be the same again!” Yeah, right.
