Surprise: Supporters of Most ‘Transparent’ Administration Launch Smear Campaign Against GOP Congessman Investigating Most ‘Transparent’ Administration

Posted on | February 15, 2011 | 12 Comments

Because they’re all about the transparency!

Democrats are understandably obsessed with Darrell Issa — he’s built himself up as a one-man investigative machine aimed straight at the Obama presidency.
But a handful of liberal political operatives . . . are taking their anti-Issa passion to a whole new level, launching a nonprofit group, a website and even paid media advertisements aimed at undermining and investigating the rabble-rousing chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
They say they’re leaving no stone unturned in digging into Issa’s personal and business history. . . .
The purpose of this new group is to . . . make life difficult for Issa and sow seeds of doubt on his investigations.
They plan to run TV advertisements and other paid media in the future, saying they already have a “significant commitment” of cash. . . .
The group will be run by the principals of SCN Strategies, a San Francisco-based consulting firm. . . . One of those deeply involved is Averell “Ace” Smith — who ran Hillary Clinton’s successful 2008 California and Texas primary operations and is known as one of the more cutthroat political operatives in the business.
Dan Newman of SCN Strategies, one of the three people leading the anti-Issa campaign, declines to disclose how much is being spent on the effort or who is bankrolling it . . .

If it weren’t for double standards, liberals would have no standards at all.

Liberals have no standards. Giving them “Double Standards” is being too generous.

When Democrats attack! They are like scrappy diseased rats when cornered.

This is just textbook Alinsky Method: Because Issa’s investigative power represents a potential threat to Obama’s re-election, Issa must be demonized and, if possible, destroyed.

The best defense is a good offense I don’t understand why conservatives don’t understand this. The battles to come will not be fought in the political arena only. The left knows this.

Our side needs weapons like the Non-profit group led by SCN Strategies’ . The conservatives, have Think Tanks and PACs the first come up with policies and arguments to further them while the second advances candidates or policies and have to be very transparent in their activities if not their source of funding.
Some may think that Nixon set the standards for “dirty tricks”. He did not. What he did was teach the left how not to do it. Using Creep funds for the plumbers unit and having the IRS directly harass his enemies and leaving a paper and audio trail meant he was bound to get caught. The Manic Progressive movement learned much from this. The American Left inherited the techniques and tactics of conspiracy from their communist roots.
Back in the 90s Hillary (coined?) popularized the term Vast Right Wing Conspiracy where do you suppose she got the idea? Do we not already know, that one way to tell what the left is up to, is listen to what they accuse conservatives of. The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy was a good idea too bad we didn’t use it. It’s not enough to be better than they are, we need to be better AT IT than they are, or we indeed loses.

Evidently Mr. Smith and Mr. Newman are unaware that they also have a paper trail and records which can be searched, if they want to play that game.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee: Government officials looking into potential Governmental malfeasance and, as more likely, incompetence. In other words, doing what they were hired by the people to do.

The Third Lantern: Administration cronies going after an individual to distract from possible malfeasance and incompetence.

Maybe they need more lanterns. They claim to have money. Are we certain that none of that money came from TARP, or the Bailout money, or Obama’s campaign coffers?

Good Questions. My point is, it appears that very little is done to investigate or gather dirt on the left and their myriad NGOs when conservatives don’t have congressional subpoena powers. There are exceptions such as the ACORN and Planned Parenthood stings but these “gotcha” actions mainly nail the expendable grunts. ACORN was wounded but not fatally. If our belief that the left are largely immoral or at best amoral is even close to correct then there are undoubtedly prosecutable offense being committed in many of the left NGOs. Having a head start on gathering “actionable intelligence” in between and in parallel with executive branch control would go far in this fight.
