The Other McCain

"One should either write ruthlessly what one believes to be the truth, or else shut up." — Arthur Koestler

OK, Here’s an Article You Must Read

Matthew Continetti of The Weekly Standard explains (a) who the Koch brothers actually are, and (b) why the Left is going so batshit crazy about the Koch brothers.

Go read the whole thing. Now.

It’s long, so it may help if you print it out, which is what I did.

Now go read the thing, like I said.

I read it yesterday, it’s a great article. I like Continetti a lot, he’s a very talented writer and I like to think I have great taste in writers.

For the modern Leftist, 1984 by Orwell is aguidebook, not a warning.

As long as the Left needs Emmanuel Goldsteins (Bush pere and fils, [The Other Other] McCain, Palin, Bachmann, Rush, etc. et. al Ad Infinitum) and their two minute hates against corporations (Halliburton, Koch Industries, Wal-mart), we are crashing quickly to the End of the American Republic.

Impressive article and you were right. It would have been easier to print it out to read it.

Koch employees felt as if they’d entered a parallel dimension.

Welcome to reality, as defined by lefties.

The word kochtopus was coined by libertarian Samuel Edward Konkin to refer to Koch supported libertarian organizations. My lack of sympathy for the anti-Koch libertarians makes me unable to offer a fair representation of their complaint. The Ed Clarke/David H Koch presidential campaign made a strong appeal to the left. Clark’s 78 governor’s race campaign manager Ed Craine founded Cato with the support of Charles Koch which has more of an outreach to the left than other libertarian organizations. DHK also has supported reason which is a big tent organization.

Because I like to imagine that ideas matter I think that it’s because of the Clarke campaign’s and Cato’s efforts to reach out to the left that Koch brothers are so hated there. Here is something recent and canonical from Nick Gillespie: http://reason.com/blog/2011/02/24/evil-koch-bros-support

I read the Nick Gillespie piece and then went to one of the links in his article. That article on Reddit by some person named Epistemicfail is one of the most snark filled, sarcastic, stick in your eye, funny pieces I’ve read lately. http://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/frrth/stop_the_koch_brothers_they_are_trying_to_end_the/

Also, read some of the comments. People actually took the writer seriously. I guess some people just have no sense of humor.

Thank you Koch Bros. for doing the right thing. Some of us appreciate it.
