How About Those Hats, Huh?

Posted on | April 29, 2011 | 36 Comments

Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice — the daughters of Prince Andrew and Fergie — upstaged their cousin William at the royal wedding when they appeared in truly spectacular hats. Eugenie’s hat looked like a spotted owl feasting on plums, or perhaps a squirrel stuck in a rose bush, while Bea’s hat inspired comparisons to the Flying Spaghetti Monster. That hat’s so crazy, it’s got its own Facebook page.

Despite her unfortunate hat, it is rumored that Beatrice, 22, will likely be the next royal to wed — she’s been dating her 29-year-old boyfriend Dave Clark for four years — while 21-year-old Eugenie is dating a bartender, Jack Brooksbank, 24.

Eugenie seems to have inherited her mother Fergie’s tendency to chubbiness. (There were some rude comments when Eugenie was photographed in a bikini in 2009.) But don’t believe those silly rumors that Eugenie will soon have her own PrincessPudgy.com site . . .

UPDATE: I blame the commenters for this:

Quick: Somebody send an e-mail to Andrew Sullivan and tell him we’ve found the magic womb he’s been looking for.

Eugenie Collins has a certain ring to it.

Serious, those hats suck. A wedding is not opening day at Ascot.

  • Tgnall

These Ladys were in Oz.. I’m sure of it.

  • JeffS

I thought Bea’s hat was designed by Planned Parenthood, symbolizing an IUD.

  • JeffS

And I swear on a stack of Bibles this high, that I did not click on the Facebook page to Bea’s hat, and found this, until after I posted my comment.

Ah, but did you just watch Fashion Police and hear Joan Rivers say the same thing at approx. 10:13 PM EST??????

  • JeffS

    Nope. I swears. Pinky swears!

:But don’t believe those silly rumors that Eugenie will soon have her own PrincessPudgy.com site . . .”

Then why did Dan Riehl register the URL?

Sadly, they both seemed to inherit their mom’s lack of style.

Jeff, you’re off you’re game tonight: you should have deflected the question by asking what the heck I was doing watching Fashion Police.

  • http://thecampofthesaints.org Bob Belvedere

The word ‘slovenly’, I believe, covers it rather nicely.

  • http://thecampofthesaints.org Bob Belvedere

    Dan actually registered PrincessPudgy.xxx.

  • JeffS

I figured you were spending quality with your wife, dude! Because you can.

Give em bread and circuses and concern about where Obama was born to keep their attention away from real and pressing issues.

At the same time, I have to admit that Kate looked hot in that lacy wedding dress.

Especially when she turned around on that balcony to walk back inside the palace.

She definitely has a royal ass.

    Oh yes, colonize me.

    See if I care.

  • Republican Atheist

What was it about a wedding that caught your attention, RSM?

Do you think that a British royal wedding is something that has really caught the interest of Americans? I do see it on the internet news, and yet, not one person I talk to on the phone or in person has said one thing about that wedding. It might as well be another infomercial. Has your wife mentioned it?

So many things are all over the news. I see giant tornadoes wherever I go, and rubble, and earthquakes, and accidents, and murders and kittens and pet grizzly bears.

I did finally remember to call the garbage collection office so I can get rid of that little pile of odds and ends under the weedy tree, so my life is getting more beautiful by the minute, Prince(ess) or no.

You guys are weirding me out with this gay stuff.

Remember TV adds pounds. I actually stood near Sarah Ferguson once, here in Australia 20 years ago, and she was tiny, very petite and quite cute. I was very surprised.

But yeah, Eugenie, poor thing, looks terrible.

  • Joe

Okay, the theory is they wore dreadful hats to protest Fergie not be invited. That has to be it.

  • http://www.pohdiaries.com/ TWB

Regardless of the chubbiness, you have to admire the stars and stripes bikini. If only all of our allies were that open about their love for America!

You seem to assume that I use terms like “pudgy” and “chubby” as perjoratives.

Au contraire! I much prefer the pleasantly plump Eugenie to the bony-looking Beatrice.

When is Dan Collins going to . . . er, weigh in on this?

  • TWB

Dan probably has “heavier” things weighing on his mind this morning. Like, I don’t know, the state of Kate Middleton’s “assets.”

You lot were much better off when you were under Western Rule.

  • http://thecampofthesaints.org Bob Belvedere

I’ve had the exact opposite experience. And, I must say, I’m glad because this is a celebration of Western tradition and custom – you know, those things were trying to protect against the Leftist search and destroy offensive.

I never realized how in tune with the fashion world you are Mr. McCain. Lady M has made, uhh, a little extra caboose, very fashion forward (or backwards, if you know what I mean).

  • Amylpav22

I am comfortable enough with my sexuality to say the hottest woman at the wedding yesterday was Maid of Honor Phillipa; that white dress was smoking and I wish I had that body.

Exactly, sir. That’s what a woman, not an underfed, siliconized, feminist, as God, not Gloria Steinem, intended, looks like.

I learned today that the proper term for those ornaments is not “hat” but “fascinator,” which is apparently a hat-like adornment that isn’t actually a hat.

  • JeffS

    I blame Liberace!

  • JeffS

Regarding the update…..rumor has it that Andrew Sullivan is seeking to purchase a hat like Bea’s, so that he can claim personal experience with female reproductive organs.

  • Joe

    I blame gg.
