President Obama on Tuesday said he cannot guarantee that retirees will receive their Social Security checks August 3 if Democrats and Republicans in Washington do not reach an agreement on reducing the deficit in the coming weeks.

Read that headline carefully and ask yourself, what’s missing? Democrats.

Democrats are insisting that there can be no budget deal unless the deal includes tax increases. Yet Obama and the Democrats want to spin this (as Colmes obligingly does) as a story about Republican intransigence.

It is Republicans, they want you to believe, who are imperiling Granny’s pension check, because Republicans “won’t agree to a deal.” And in their coverage of this negotiation, it is vitally important to the liberal media that Granny never be encouraged to ask herself one question: “Why are Democrats insisting on a tax increase?”

UPDATE II: Don Surber has the budget facts. The facts are not friendly to Obama and Democrats, which is why they’re lying.

That Mr. G Guy: “Well, at least he isn’t trying to use our troops as hostages again.” Not today. Maybe tomorrow. Be patient and enjoy the show. I’m sure Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) have got this kabuki dance choreographed all the way to the end.

    BLUF: the only way Social Security/Retirement/Disability cheques can not go out is if the POTUS has Treasury shut down completely. By Presidential Order only.

    The processing is done this week, at the latest – likely it was done prior to today, given the scope of the operation. So this is all BS theater to scare the Ignoratti into flashmobbing the GOP into capitulation.

    The Democrats have always been dirty, shameless operators. But the sheer Machiavellian cynicism they’ve contrived and  choreographed over the past few weeks is almost beyond comprehension.

    This episode is what “shock and awe” means to the Democrats: don’t just fly in and drop a few lies; deploy the lies on such a massive, grotesque scale that everyone is left slackjawed, disoriented.

    Surber’s budget facts you linked are pretty good, but there is one major error.  He seems to think that the “$2.5 trillion SS Trust Fund” will pay those checks going forward.

    The problem is there is NO money in that fund, it is just an accounting entry.  Every penny has been spent the very minute it came in, and has been since the program began.  It was always pay-as-you-go, the “trust fund” is sweet-sounding nonsense, though.  There is no more money there than the Treasury has collected since they spent it all last.

    However, we do know how much the Treasury should have on hand in cash on August 3rd – the short term projections of this stuff are very accurate.  They will have $74 billion in cash on hand, and SS checks require $22 billion for the month.  Obama either lied about not knowing if the money would be there, or he’s just ignorant.

    The amount of taxpayer money which funds Obama’s luxurious and opulent recreational activities alone could fund Social Security. So when the elderly, sick, and disabled are left with no means to get medication, food, or shelter, that SOB and his fat sow wife will still be spending hundreds of millions of dollars on vacation after vacation, fine dining, concerts, festivals and parties. Will nobody find the balls to impeach that horrible ass already? He’s committed multiple acts of treason even before this latest outrage, the longer we let him get away with it, the more damage he’ll do to Americans.

    Yeah, that should get him hung right there. Of course you could impeach him, try him in the Senate and prove every bit of that and still no Democratic Senator would vote to convict, so you would need I think 60 GOP Senators, not including the RINOs like Graham and McCain. And you can be sure the Democrats will be screaming “Look at those racist Republicans they are going to lynch the first black president from a tree in Washington.” Never mind that the charges would have to be true before you could hang him.

    But that’s all right, hang his ass anyway. It would be fun.

    Frankly Oboma is disrespecting the Americans who got up every morning and went to work all day regardless of if they were sick or half dying.  These Americans paid taxes over and over again throughout their careers or jobs.  To do something so dirty is just saying America is a theif, they steal hard earned money from the working people.  Many citizens have worked for 30+ years at the same old hum drum employment so they could be financially secure once they retired.  Oboma has not given the Social Security receipients a cost of living raise in a couple of years and the cost of living has certainly increased causing many to struggle to sustain themselves in our economy.  I am just in such disbelief that a president elected in our United States would even fathom doing such a thing.  He will be hurting the retired, sick and disabled, widows, and children of deseased parents.  We need to take action, is it up to the population of millions of Americans to decide or does this all be decided by one small man, President Obama. Is it not enough that he was indeed not born in America.  First he lies to the people, and now he wants to steal from us as well. For Christmas I am making him a sweater out of very old rags because he is one cold hearted man. I would have knitted him a new one but cannot afford to because he took away Social Security benefits.

    I think they ought to clean house from the President on down.And put someone in office that is going to do something for the state of Alabama.And as far as the government being broke that is simple not true.After all they can make more money,because i have seen their money making machine that they have been showing on tv.We need to take a stand and stop them from cutting out Social Securtiy next month and the months after.Everyone that is on it needs it to live and take care of their families.Coming from a concerned citizen of the usa.
