Obama: ‘Hey, Grandma, There’s Still Room for You Under This Bus!’

Or, “They Told Glenn Reynolds if He Voted for John McCain, We’d Have a President Cutting Benefits for Senior Citizens — and They Were Right!

President Obama is pressing congressional leaders to consider a far-reaching debt-reduction plan that would force Democrats to accept major changes to Social Security and Medicare in exchange for Republican support for fresh tax revenue.

This is simply stunning: Obama has apparently decided that his main goal in this negotiation is to increase taxes by any means necessary, so that “fresh tax revenue” is the one point he will not cede, even if it means abandoning the Democrats’ claim as the party of Social Security.

Oliver Willis is shocked and demands a filibuster to stop any deal on Social Security, inspiring mockery from Donald Douglas. But let me just point out: If Obama’s lost Oliver Willis . . .

We should almost take him up on this.

Obama alienates himself from the base, screws up the recovery further, and the GOP can run on lowering taxes if elected.  When they win, the GOP delivers and the economy revives.  Hmmmm, interesting!

Obama’s habit of throwing supporters under the bus is a trifle self-destructive.  Which is why I like it.

Just don’t throw Oliver Willis under the bus; it’ll hit high center, and be a pain to get unstuck.

Obama is quite familar with the concept of abandonment.  http://althouse.blogspot.com/2011/07/barack-obama-sr-declared-to-immigration.html

Great. So the GOP will jump on the chance to become the party of Social Security. Just great.

He’s lost 700 pounds of malignant fat and Twinkie wrappers.

Besides, who’s gonna do the “throwing”? Jesse Ventura doesn’t work for Team Obama.

    Reality: It’s what’s on Obama’s waffle.

I want the GOP to jump on the chance of being the party to reign in and reform Social Security (I would prefer to see it eliminated but that is not going to happen and with some modifications it could pencil).  ButI  especially want the GOP to be the party of cutting and reducing Medicare.  Because Medicare is going down without that sort of reform.  And the country will go down with it.

As arrogant ss Obama has been this his first term, is there any question as to how outrageous he would be if he was re-elected. The more I think about it the more I wonder if there is any Republican candidate I can’t heartily endorse.

Yep. Then he’ll be able to share the blame for the sour economy with the Republicans.
