Are You Freaking Serious?

As if this is going to hurt Michelle Bachmann in the Republican primaries:

Republican presidential candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann’s failure to address a disturbing trend of teen suicides within her own congressional district does not reflect well on her White House ambitions, House minority leader Nancy Pelosi told The Advocate Thursday.
Over the past two years, nine teens have committed suicide in Minnesota’s largest school district, resulting in federal investigations, lawsuits from advocacy groups, and the morbid designation of a “suicide contagion area” by state public health officials. At least four suicide victims, as Mother Jones noted in a feature published Monday, had been reported victims of bullying because they were LGBT or perceived to be LGBT.

There are several things wrong with this:

  • Getting attacked by Nancy Pelosi is good for Republicans.
  • To say “X got bullied” and “X committed suicide” shows correlation, not causation.
  • What about all of the gay people who didn’t commit suicide?

But this is just more “Republicans are homophobes” propaganda.

By the way, in a conversation last week, a friend pointed out that “anti-bullying” has become the latest fashionable liberal crusade precisely because “anti-bullying” is code for “Let’s teach pro-gay ‘tolerance’ in the schools!” And my friend pointed that out in relation to this video:

“Pet the dog! Pet the dog!” My friend’s theory is that the Hutchison-Stodden marriage is just a scam to promote a reality-TV show.

Are people really that cynical in Hollywood? I dunno. And it’s probably an unfair stereotype to suggest that men who like tiny dogs are gay.

But he sure does like that tiny dog, doesn’t he?

While Nancy Pelosi is harboring a rapist in her own faction just because she needs his vote, she’s criticizing Bachmann?

This is a dig not only at Bachmann but at her husband, who runs some kind of straight camp, where gays who are unhappy with being gay can go and allegedly be “cured” of their gayness. Democrats also insist Mr. Bachmann is himself gay. That’s what this crap is all about. If she does get the nomination that’s going to be the biggest distraction of the campaign. That might turn out good though, cos it could backfire on the Democrats.

They’re obsessed with sex. It’s that simple.

[…] it comes as no surprise that Nancy Pelosi’s just gone after Michele Bachmann by saying, in effect, that she should shut up about the budget and deal with the suicide of teens […]

I don’t really have gaydar, but he didn’t seem over effeminate to me.  That dog is a puppy, maybe a wedding gift from him to her. But yeah – I’m totally on board with the reality show theory,

    A couple things.
    1. Always, always, always remember with DEM’s their accusations are nothing but projections of their own behaviors. Whether it is the garbage after the Tucson shooting rampage, cries of racism or homophobia or other accusations it is all projection.
    2. Have we ever held congresscritters responsible for problems in their congressional district? Ever? Beyond that, is Pelosi one who should be throwing that rock from in front of her glass house? I don’t think I’ve visited either district, but I’m fairly confident that if we compared the rates of various personal failings in each district that Bachmann’s district would seem a better place to live and raise a family. Which has a worse rate of drug abuse, alcoholism, HIV/AIDS, and so on. Yet Pelosi is making hay over 9 suicides over a two year period? Don’t get me wrong every suicide is a tragedy  to that family, but nine out of two years at the largest school district in the state is not proof by itself of a larger systemic issue. The problems in Pelosi’s district largely result from a permissive anything goes mentality which does tend to indicate a systemic problem.

That video is the creepiest thing I’ve seen in a long time (“Uhnn hnnn”).

I’d never heard of Doug Hutchison before the news of their marriage broke, but he does seem to be fighting hard to keep from over-use of the sibilant “s”.  That rat dog does not help the image.

My son was born in Tacoma, Washington too.  He was born in 1985 and his birth certificate does not look anything like the one they waved around.  I’m not saying it’s phony, just that I’ve never seen one like that before and I’ve lived in Washington all my life.

I gotta say, the reality show theory looks pretty good right now.

I actually agree with the Bachman’s on this. I think this idea of “born gay” and it being some kind of genetic wiring is a load of shit. If he can “cure” them or whatever you want to call it, and he wants to devote time effort and resources to such an effort, Salud.

SALT LAKE CITY — As the number of suicides among lesbian, gay, bisexual
and transgender populations continues to increase across the nation,
concern among the Utah LGBT community has begun to push the issue into
    the spotlight.
