Best Wishes To Niall And Ayaan

Never usually one to do anything without great fanfare, Niall Ferguson, the bombastic television historian, has quietly married Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the former Dutch MP, who lives under a fatwa after writing the screenplay for Submission, a film critical of Islam.

What a courageous lady. I read Nomad, which showed a gutsy lady in action. This blog truly wishes her and Niall all happiness, success, and health.

Congrats to the newlyweds. I don’t know anything about the groom, but I hope Ms. Ali has a lifetime of wedded bliss after the horrible “marriage” she endured earlier in her life.

Candidate Cain wins a straw poll, now an interracial marriage of conservative powerhouses…

FLUSH goes the libs’ raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaacist narrative.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a personal hero and one of the Great People of our time.  May God grant the couple happiness and long lives.

Wonder if it was a church wedding?  Doubtful, as Ms Ali is an atheist and I suspect the groom is, too.  All I can find is that it took place in Boston and Henry Kissinger was present.

This is old news.  Andrew Sullivan talked about this a couple of weeks ago.  Sullivan is a longtime friend of Ferguson and the wedding took place at Harvard Memorial Church.  Friendship with Andrew Sullivan and a Harvard wedding – such Ruling Class elitists, right, Smitty?

Here’s wishing the happy couple a long and joyful life together. Whatever their spiritual beliefs and positions on particular issues, they are both stalwarts in the long twilight struggle for basic human rights, the rule of law, and political liberty.

I met Ayaan once at a wedding and was very impressed by her exuberance and joy despite everything she had been through.  Obviously her work speaks for itself.  And while I don’t always agree with Ferguson, he is far better than a “bombastic television historian”.  He’s done some really great work.

    Best wishes to the couple.

    Best wishes to the newlyweds!

I wouldn’t call Niall Ferguson a conservative, just a brutally honest observer who doesn’t filter the truth he finds through an ideological lens, which may account for the “bombastic” description.  A year or so ago I doubt anyone would have called him “conservative” at all, although you may have heard a “bombastic” here and there . . .

It’s hard for me to wish happiness to a man who’s just married the woman who helped break up his first marriage and the woman who had an affair with a married father of three.
