Boortz Blames ‘Rabid Shrew’ Tea Party Mom for Bob Beckel’s F-Bomb Eruption UPDATE: Boortz Says ‘I Was Wrong’

If you are familiar with the Tea Party movement, you almost certainly know that Jennifer Stefano of AFP Pennsylvania is one of the movement’s most feisty, outspoken leaders.

Last night on Hannity, veteran Democratic Party operative Bob Beckel blew up at Stefano and shouted — live, on the air — “You don’t know what the f–k you’re talking about!”

The third member of Hannity’s “Great American” panel, Neal Boortz, took to Twitter to explain:

OK. Look — truth is the blond lady was on Beckel like a rabid shrew during the break.  He reacted. I might have done the same thing.

Hmmmm. Is there some kind of “boys club” thing going on here? Grant that going after an antagonist during the commercial break is probably considered “unprofessional” among TV commentators. But the protective circle-the-wagons defense of Beckel would seem to be rather — what’s that fancy word the feminists use? — gendered.

We’ll let the feminists decide whether the token Democrat on Fox News is guilty of being a MISOGYNISTIC PATRIARCHAL OPPRESSOR, and just give props to our favorite “rabid shrew.”

Bob Beckel didn’t realize when the commercial break ended during tonight’s final segment of Hannity, caught in a heated off-camera argument with fellow panelist Jennifer Stefano. . . .
In a blooper that is as hilarious as it increasingly becomes painful, it slowly dawns on Beckel what actually happened, as Hannity insists he apologize and Beckel, after saying he won’t several times, finally realizes the cameras are actually rolling. When he finally figured it out, he told Hannity to “run your show better,” then covered his head in shame and refused to speak, other than to say “I’m going to be fired.”

P.S.: Stefano says she actually likes Beckel. Scary to imagine what it would be like with someone she didn’t like. (Note to self: Avoid arguments with “rabid shrew.”)

UPDATE II: Boortz apologizes on Twitter:

I was wrong to use the word “shrew”. She’s a patriot, and she was relentless. Whole episode was unfortunate.

“Unfortunate,” and also kinda hilarious.

    Our folks should keep after the Bolsheviks in the commercial breaks, in the green rooms and on twitter after the show. Beckel is an extreme example but many of these lefties have poor impulse control (probably because their ideology is emotion based) and the more outbursts from them the better. Not better than they are but better AT it than they are.

    I can’t believe they’re saying that Beckel is not responsible for what comes out of his mouth.  I’m sure that he’s making darn good money for being obnoxious.  All he has to do is refrain from using the f word, and he can’t even do that.

    Beckel started in with Pamela Geller.  She called him out just then and does so today.  She adds some of the “break-time” flavor that Beckel adds to the show.   It’s not pretty and belies the notion that “poor poor pour me a drink” Beckel was “attacked” by anyone.

    I care not at all that he used the other F-word tho I dare say he will, he says thing he has to apologize for later all the time, and usually not for swearing. What is important here is that he was made to lose his cool while his antagonist did not good for her and even gooder for Beckel.

    There is a decent chance I’d have been restraining myself from punching Beckel in the nose, partially be reminding myself that he is really, really terrible at his job…..and I’m supposed to feel sorry that he got pinned to the mat VERBALLY and hammered VERBALLY?

    And upholding some standards is a good idea for a number of reasons.

    Yeah, labels like these are typically not very useful, especially that far in the past, or contexts as different as the US and Afghanistan.  

    Modern “Liberals” like to think that they’re all about “change” and “progress,” and so anyone in the past who was for something that was a good idea (e.g., abolition of slavery) must be just like them.  On their own terms, they’re sort of right.  

    But their terms are crap, of course.

    I understand the appeal of having a token Liberal Hack on to juice the show, but Beckel? C’mon! The guy is a Mumbling Mound of Round (thank you, Charles Barkley).

    His shtick is to regurgitate Democrat talking points to a) act as a stage foil and b) pitch a political sale because he is a hack. The worst, though, is that he just isn’t all that funny, and when he responds to pretty much any point where it’s patently obvious he is ridiculously wrong, he tries to divert with some dumbass comment for the exclusive purpose of trolling the show. He does this all the time. Sure, it’s disguised as comedy, but it’s a measured tactic – he does not want to actually engage in a debate where the Democrat point is getting bludgeoned, so he must disarm the panel by making a “joke.” It’s so damn dishonest that it makes him a clown. Unfortunately, the likes of a Hannity enjoy that sort of distraction because he, Hannity, wants to be an entertainer more than a policy wonk. Suffice it to say, that is pretty much the FoxNews model for much of its content.

    As far as Boortz goes, he’s been in the industry for decades and knows the ropes as well as anyone. He can stuff his apology in a sack, Mister, because it’s insincere. He meant what he said and said what he meant. Personally, I like blunt because it’s a pretty fair window to the soul without the frilly accoutrements blocking the view. That said, Boortz (whom I generally like) exposed himself. It wasn’t pretty.

    Beckel is probably a decent human in most respects but his politics tend toward the irrational. In other words, he’s a believing liberal. Too bad. But there’s no doubt he makes a great foil on The Five and Hannity, and knows his political inside game during lucid moments.

    As far as Boortz, perhaps I’m being too critical, but he’s always struck me as a clown rather than a serious commentator.

     Beckel isn’t the only democrat on Foxnews. They have several, he is the easiest to laugh at. They used have tours in the basement in NYC office where for a fee you feed peanuts to them in cages. I.e. Kristin Powers, Sally Kohn, Juan Williams, Alan Colmes, Jehmu Greene, several more.

    On the occasions (admittedly infrequent) I’ve watched him on “The Five,” I got the impression the other supposedly conservative panelists treated him with kid gloves as the resident gruff, but kind-hearted curmudgeon.  Personally, I found it not “fun to watch,” but rather disgusting.  He is not a kind-hearted curmudgeon, he is a demented bolshevik, and he deserves no respect.

     I took a college class from the guy who designed Head Start, James Payne, in the ’70s – he would candidly admit even then there were no results he could show, but still believed it was a good program.  A great guy, remarkable intellect, but stuck in that liberal mindset that spending public money for something that is well-intentioned is more important than the results.

    Mr. Beckel has been on enough tv news programs by now to know that when the program producer is counting down the time to going back on the air from commercial break to shut his mouth and not continue on. It is his fault he was not paying attention and dropped the f-bomb on live tv. He should pay the consequences for it. On the lighter side of this apparently he forgot that arguing with a woman is never a good idea. Mr. Boortz screwed up as well. He stooped down to the level of a “Liberal Misogynist”with his “Rabid Shrew” remark. Great Neal, that makes conservatives look real good when the so-called “War On Women” for their vote in the 2012 Election is alledgedly happening.

    We conservatives have to get better at using The Needle against the Bolshes.

    One way I used to do it at parties was by replying to every answer they gave with ‘Why?’  After a bit of trying to answer a question for which they have no answer because they’ve never reverse engineered their own thinking, the subjects would lose their cool.  The key, of course, was for me to retain mine and ask my questions in a nice tone of voice – that really grates on them.
