The escalating insanity has apparently reached new heights. Just when Aaron Walker achieved a court victory — this:

Readers will excuse the intensity of my reaction, but I simply cannot imagine that any criminal would be so stupidly overconfident to attempt such a thing, at a time when there is so much public attention on the subject. It boggles the mind.

UPDATE: Patterico reports:

It happened around 6 p.m. Eastern. I briefly talked with one of the police officers at the scene, who confirmed that someone had called saying he had shot his wife, and sent officers to Aaron’s address.
I just got off the phone with Aaron and he and his wife are a little shaken up but OK. The officers had machine guns but did not point them at Aaron. They were quickly able to determine it was a hoax.

These people are neither smart nor rational. They have to be back in court on July 5 and you better believe the judge is going to be aware of this.

It’s been reported on this blog that Kimberlin escalates (up to and including lethal force) whenever crossed.

New Jersey, California, Georgia, Virginia. Can you say, “Interstate Crime Wave”? I knew that you could!

Now, for bonus points, WHY do we have an FBI in the first place? Is it because states aren’t able to deal with crimes across state lines?

WHERE ARE THEY?

I’m thinking that Virginia and Georgia might jointly request help in solving these cases. It would be hard to continue to turn a blind eye then.

Where’s the FBI? Come on, they’re trolling thru all of Holder’s F&F correspondence to make sure all the incriminating stuff is stamped “EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE.”

The LAST thing they have time for is protecting the free speech rights–and physical safety–of Ogabe critics.

Like all of the Federal agencies under Ogabe & Holder, the FBI is utterly compromised.

There is no way you pull a stunt like this unless you are so nuts you really believe you can’t be touched.

I find it difficult to believe that the officers had machine guns. That said, this is a huge mistake for Team Kimberlin. I don’t think they understand what winning this is.

SWAT teams routinely carry assault rifles or submachine guns, and considering the ranges they operate at when storming a house, does it really matter that they’re not M60s?

OK, folks, sit back, and think about this.

BK is considered a sociopath. NR is an extreme narcissist. Neither of these types like being shown up. ESPECIALLY in public.

Further, they just received a massive poke in the eye, after days of sunlight, and the marshaling of forces against. They have to be massively uncomfortable, if not threatened.

And what do threatened people do? They fight back. Just as Aaron Walker and others have done.

This SWATting is direct pay back for today’s events. A coup was scored today against Team Kimberlin, but the enemy remains fully capable. And willing. That’s the message that has been sent.

It’s a massively stupid act that is impossible for all but the most biased (i.e., the majority of lefties) to think is NOT a coincidence.

Like others here, I think that the evidence for an interstate crime operation is on the table. I’m not going to hold my breath that the FBI will step in, but they certainly should.

In the meantime…..stay safe, Stacy, Aaron, and the others.

Wombat_socho is correct. LEO’s are trained to present overwhelming force. If they don’t have machine pistols or SMGs, they’ll have M4 carbines. At the very least.

A machine gun is a fully automatic mounted or portable firearm, usually designed to fire rounds in quick succession from an ammunition belt or large-capacity magazine, typically at a rate of several hundred rounds per minute.

Let’s not get wrapped up by silly arguments over semantics. Getting confronted with an M60, M2, M16 or an M4 is sufficiently disconcerting to make one dispense with technical differences between assault rifles and other automatic weapons even though newer M16s and some M4s don’t have full auto capability…

They are ruthless and amoral, but don’t assume they are stupid. They are cunning shrews. Rauhauser and Kimberlin did not do this directly (if they were involved). An anonymous tip in an untraceable manner is all it takes and how can Walker prove it?

But why isn’t the media covering this?

They are intelligent, but intelligent people will do stupid things, based on how they view the world. Especially if they are arrogant. Wouldn’t be the first time someone went down because they (metaphorically speaking) shot themselves in the foot.

A clear head on their part would have them thinking twice about this. The timing and observed pattern is stunningly stupid on their part.

“Untraceable” is a throwaway cell phone bought with cash at a place without video surveillance, used on a major highway far from your home and office, and thrown away after that single use.

Skype and other internet connections are NOT untraceable if the FBI wants them traced.

I doubt this guy (guessing it’s the same chap again) is that smart. And you can be sure Kimberlin and Rauhauser have alibis and witnesses besides each other.
