The Tears of Unfathomable Sadness

Posted on | October 9, 2012 | 19 Comments

Andrew Sullivan emotionally implodes over the latest poll:

The Pew poll is devastating, just devastating. Before the debate, Obama had a 51 – 43 lead; now, Romney has a 49 – 45 lead. That’s a simply unprecedented reversal for a candidate in October. . . .
Seriously: has that kind of swing ever happened this late in a campaign? Has any candidate lost 18 points among women voters in one night ever? And we are told that when Obama left the stage that night, he was feeling good. That’s terrifying. On every single issue, Obama has instantly plummeted into near-oblivion. . . .
Look: I’m trying to rally some morale, but I’ve never seen a candidate this late in the game, so far ahead, just throw in the towel in the way Obama did last week – throw away almost every single advantage he had with voters and manage to enable his opponent to seem as if he cares about the middle class as much as Obama does. . . .

Read the rest. I should resist the temptation of schadenfreude.

I should. But I can’t.

It’s been noted by Instapundit and others that the Left will turn on Obama if it seems he is losing; the loss must be his personal failure and not a public repudiation of leftist policies.

The shock and sobbing are spreading from Sully to Kos to Maher and beyond like some operatic angst building to a crescendo of pain, betrayal, and death.

    Enjoy! But don’t get cocky . . .

Why do you jerks keep reminding me of Andrew Sullivan’s continued existence? What did I ever do to you?

Me, I never bought for a New York nanosecond that Obama ever had a 51 – 43 lead over Romney in a legitimate poll of likely voters.

Media pollsters this election –2012– season have been distinguished for their utter corruption. They have no objective of getting a truly impartial scientific snapshot of where the electorate stands at the time the poll is taken.

No, what they do instead is try to inflate Obama’s standing any way they can, protect him, massage him, prop him up, and do what they can to squelch enthusiasm on the right to suppress the Romney vote.

On top of all that, I believe a significant percentage respondents lie to pollsters. For whatever reason. With Obama as the candidate, we have the Bradley-Wilder effect on steroids.

With these factors in play it’s impossible to trust any poll anymore.

This is more fun than watching Tingles epic meltdown.

    But, yeah, don’t get cocky.

Andrew was fine with the polls when they were weighted D+10. Now that Pew is starting to weigh their polls more realistically It’s starting to make him cry. Somebody call the Whaaaaambulance.

… the loss must be his personal failure and not a public repudiation of leftist policies -a reading from the Leftist Bible.

BTW: I’m sure Miss Andrew has gotten cocky many-a-time.

Too bad Sullivan isn’t Norwegian or Swedish, because then we could call it scandenfreude.

I just knew that you would note the Sullivan rant. I mean, it’s low hanging fruit, right?

I can hear that beagle howling all the way in Madison!

I would also recommend not tasting Sully’s bitter tears.
