America’s Sex-Crazed Colleges

William Jacobson at Legal Insurrection calls attention to a rather disturbing trend on our nation’s campuses:

What’s up with that? It used to be that such extracurricular activities, so to speak, were entirely a matter of horny college kids trying to get some action with their fellow students. Nowadays, however, the administration and faculty have made sex a matter of official policy — something subsidized and/or supervised under institutional auspices — and the obvious question is, “Have these policies of Official Sex actually solved whatever problems they were intended to address?”

My hunch tells me that the answer to that question is “no,” and I further suspect that the institutionalization of campus sex has created new problems that didn’t exist back in the day when the main concern of university officials was trying to keep guys from sneaking their girlfriends into the dormitory after regular visiting hours.

    People have known that there is an “orgasm gap” for millennia; that is some of the basis for traditional sexual morality. Women orgasm less frequently than men do, and somewhere between 10% and 30% of women can’t orgasm at all. Something like half of thirty-year-old women haven’t orgasmed, ever. Women are more likely to get STDs from a man than men are to get STDs from a woman. Men don’t get pregnant. As the final kicker, married women enjoy sex more than unmarried women.

    We knew this stuff for thousands of years (the claims of Baby Boomer feminists to have invented women’s sexual pleasure aside), and society did its best to remind men of these facts. It wasn’t that anyone was dumping on women’s sexuality, denying them pleasure, or ignoring some women’s capacity for pleasure that is the envy of men. Rather, it was an attempt to make men understand that they usually get the better end of the deal in bed, and therefore, they should treat their wives with tenderness, not spend their lives horndogging it up with any willing young lady.

    “Sex positive feminism”, however, has no room in its ethos for tenderness, since the entire construct is predicated on the idea that involving emotions in sexuality is a tool of the patriarchy.

    If you look at the raw data – what it takes for women to get pleasure, the repercussions for men and women when they get in bed, how easy it is for most men to achieve orgasm – the most pro-woman system out there involves saving sex for marriage and having society drill it through men’s heads that the sexes aren’t equal when it comes to sex.

    As a final thought, I could never understand the “feminist” notion that one-night stands will treat women better than the men who promised to lay down his life for her in holy matrimony. The man you’ve known, dated, been courted by, who gave you a ring, promised in front of his family and friends to cherish you forever, whose character you have gotten to see before you committed to him – yeah, sorry, some horn-dog college kid isn’t going to equal that man.

    The fourth story down, the “orgasm gap” story, concerns the University of Minnesota. It seems that Governor Mark Dayton (D-MN) managed to get $50 million added to UM’s biennial appropriation from the state, but the university’s funding from the state is still significantly lower than in the past. It kind of makes one wonder just what had to be cut for the university to engage in this project.

    Some of the ‘roons at a blog operated by that Mr. Spades fellow were going on about all the crap on TV and whether it would work to help “improve performance.”

    I told them, all you need to do is eat a carnivorous diet, like your body requires (if you’re a man), and cherish your wife, like it says in Proverbs 4.

    There’s a massive shortage of cherishing goin’ on, that’s for sure.

    We are seeing more of these sex-focused extracurricular activities as women become the majority on campus. All this fluff and nonsense is to be expected in a female-majority environment. Can’t wait to see what happens to the U.S. Infantry. Oh the Lolz!!
