Saw this headline at Memeorandum:

14-year-old student held without bail
in slaying of Danvers High teacher

The story doesn’t say how the teacher was killed, but the fact that MSNBC wasn’t running a gun-control telethon was a clue that she probably wasn’t shot to death. And Weasel Zippers ran this headline:

14 Year Old Black Student Murders
White 24 Year Old Teacher In Massachusetts

Yeah, dead teacher. But her civil rights weren’t violated, so don’t expect Al Sharpton to fly to Massachusetts for a protest rally.

    I met her once, only for a few seconds and didn’t know her name at the time. Lovely young woman. Danvers is one of those small bucolic New England towns and not known for much beyond the Connors Farm pumpkin patch and corn maze where a clueless family called 911 a couple of years ago. This shocked the hell out of me.

    Danvers (Old Salem )is also known as the place where the actual witch trials took place, not the town Salem today, and the home of Rebecca Nurse, one of the victims.

    Yeah, well. It’s also known around some parts as the home of the pre-frontal lobotomy. Not that you’d know it, though I did get some mileage out of making jokes about the place along those lines.

    Like I said, it’s a nice town. The high school is so new it’s still shiny. Or it was. You see it, visit the town, or live there and review that information with the news today and definitely a experience a dissonant sensation. Just doesn’t fit.

    The Daily Mail article said this guy killed his teacher and then ran off and took in a “Woody Allen film”.

    Does anyone find that a tad…unbelievable? I mean, I don’t even watch Woody Allen films anymore. But we’re supposed to believe that THIS guy committed the cold-blooded slashing of his 24 year old teacher and then sauntered off for the latest showing of “Blue Jasmine”?

    WTF?

    There has always been violent crime and terror in America (as elsewhere in the world). No one is every truly immune. The Deerfield Massacre was an act of war and terror at the time.

After a few minutes, I noted to one of the costumers that the teacher had likely been stabbed, maybe beaten, or strangled to death. They asked me how I knew, since the news had not reported the likely cause of the teacher’s demise. Not knowing the political bent of this gentleman, I avoided saying why I reached such a conclusion, which is if the teacher had been shot the media would be focused solely on what kind of gun, was there a high capacity magazine involved, and could it have been an AR-15, and did stand your ground laws cause this tragedy.     Yeah. I think some of us assumed she’d been sexually assaulted. Especially when the Chief of Police didn’t want to talk about ANY aspect of her death.

    And now this guy’s defense wants a psych eval. What do you want to bet he was on psycho-pharmaceuticals?

    NO. I would believe this story if he saw the Woody Allen film FIRST, and then went on a murderous, raping rampage. THAT would make perfect sense. I might be driven to horrendous violence too after seeing the crap he’s been putting out lately.

    But nobody does what this what this guy did and then voluntarily sits through a Woody Allen flick.

    I don’t know…maybe his defense is right. Maybe this guy really is crazy. Like I said before, psycho-pharmaceuticals.
