John Nolte’s Right

At Breitbart, John Nolte calls attention to how BuzzFeed “poured hate-fuel all over these powerless, innocent people” — the owners of Memories Pizza — “repeatedly lied about them, and then changed our libelous headline without making an editor’s note.”

And their editor Ben Smith wants to pretend they did nothing wrong.

I’ve never hated Ben Smith the way some other people hate Ben Smith, who is an arrogant son of a bitch, but arrogant sons of bitches are very common in the world of journalism, and I’m not necessarily a modest son of a bitch. Also, from time to time, Ben Smith has done a favor or two for certain friends of mine, so there’s that. Still, this Memories Pizza thing was bad mojo, and BuzzFeed needs to own up to it.

Anyway, “sadistic sociopath” was maybe verbal overkill, but it’s late, it’s been a long day and sometimes I’m a son of bitch, too.

    I’ve been pondering a couple of issues that dovetailed into an epiphany. Please correct me if I get any facts wrong.

    When the left compares religious freedom to segregation, they’re looking at it through the lens of memes: they see both as discriminatory to powerless groups. (Never mind that there are also religious minorities. They compartmentalize well.)

    However, looking at it through the lens of modes, Democrats used the state power to force individual business owners to participate in segregation regardless of individual conscience, while anonymous gangs terrorized dissenters into silence with arson and death threats.

    The segregation comparison is not the auto-win button that they think it is. Quite the opposite: it highlights the fact that after all these decades, they still haven’t realized that their mode was just as wrong as their meme.

    With this mental model, I finally realized why Muslims fit so comfortably into the left, despite a profound disagreement in memes with the rest of the members. The foundation of their coalition is an agreement on mode, and that fact gives the lie to all of their meme-based arguments.

    I never had much use for Ben Smith. He enervr struck me as a decent sort, but could never put my finger on exactly why he didn’t hit me right. Now I know. The red flags were there and I just didn’t recognize them for what they were.

    The SJWs have nearly Destroyed the Science Fiction Writers Association. Scalzi has been at the forefront, and some thought SFWA had disfellowshipped Vox Day (they hadn’t) and they’ve just about rendered the Hugos meaningless. Vox and the Dark Ilk are turning that around, and the SJWs are whining at frequencies only dogs can hear. It’s funny to watch as one small part of our population pushes back against the Fascists.
