Suppose you were a judge, and you were faced with the decision of who should have custody of a 17-year-old girl:
- A 25-year-old junkie;
or - A 53-year-old lesbian?
This is not a hypothetical scenario:
The man who allegedly housed Rosie O’Donnell’s 17-year-old daughter Chelsea for a week while she was missing from home has been charged with child endangerment and communication of obscenity, New Jersey prosecutors announced Saturday.
Steven Sheerer, 25, was arrested Friday night in his Barnegat, New Jersey, home and could face up to five years in prison for each charge (or 10 years total), the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
The arrest stems from a Friday search of Chelsea’s phone (with O’Donnell’s consent) which revealed “evidence of inappropriate communications over the last several weeks” between Sheerer and the teen, according to the statement. . . . .
A $40,000 bond has been set for Sheerer, according to jail records. He has been barred from contacting the O’Donnell family, according to the prosecutor’s statement.
O’Donnell’s publicist Cindi Berger commented on Sheerer’s charges in a statement to PEOPLE.
“He was involved with a minor, and Rosie’s concern has been and always will be the health, safety and well-being of her daughter,” Berger said. . . .
Sheerer has previously faced charges of “third-degree possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, third-degree possession of heroin, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child and possession of drug paraphernalia,” a Barnegat police spokesman told PEOPLE.
Chelsea was adopted by O’Donnell when she was married to her first wife, Kelli Carpenter, who left O’Donnell in 2007. In 2012, O’Donnell married Michelle Rounds, but they split in February (“The Tragedy of Lesbian Divorce”) and, at an event at Barnard College shortly afterwards, O’Donnell said, “I felt like a lesbian cougar. All these gorgeous twentysomething girls!” In April, TMZ reported that in her divorce filing, Michelle Rounds claimed “Rosie drinks a bottle of wine nearly every night, regularly smokes weed” and “let their 19-year-old son throw parties where the kids all drink.”
So, obviously, it’s a very good thing 17-year-old Chelsea is back home with Rosie, where she is safe, rather than with a 25-year-old heroin addict, who could be a bad influence. Maybe some day Chelsea O’Donnell will write a tell-all memoir and call it Mommy Queerest.

What’s behind door #3?
August 23rd, 2015 @ 9:18 pm
Absolutely!
August 23rd, 2015 @ 9:20 pm
Isn’t it odd how Rosie plays the “minor” card but supports organizations like Planned Parenthood that would encourage the daughter to be sexually active, abort a child without telling Rosie, etc.?
August 23rd, 2015 @ 9:44 pm
I’m just glad the girl is alright. It can seem like you’re trapped when you’re 17 but 18 isn’t that far away.
August 23rd, 2015 @ 10:36 pm
I would send her back to the 53 year-old lesbian, and advise her to run away to a sober guy in a state with a lower age of consent.

i believe Green Goblin once called this scenario a “sadistic choice.”

” Maybe some day Chelsea will write a memoir and call it ‘ Mommy Queerest.'”
Dude!! Now that was just wrong on so many levels, but somehow it felt so right.

Unless Rosie has some normal relatives who might take the girl in (and that could go either way), I think I’d have to agree with you. Seriously. The girl is “sexually precocious”, is the nicest way to put it. The barn door’s open now (as it were); ain’t no puttin’ them horsies back. Sadly, you just know she’s gonna make some bad decisions forward- going, no matter what’s done at this point.
August 24th, 2015 @ 3:27 am
Yep, none of the above is the obvious answer.
August 24th, 2015 @ 3:32 am
Yeah, Rosie probably didn’t get that way from a healthy family culture. So I think Solomon would subvert the standard frame and guide Chelsea to the least bad choice.
August 24th, 2015 @ 6:29 am
Seems open and shut to me: Rosie is her legal mother and, unless there is evidence that she should NOT be granted custody, then she gets her daughter back.
As for the lurid accusations by her (ahem) ex, what can we expect? Don’t most divorced people say bad things about their exes?
August 24th, 2015 @ 6:47 am
And this is what you get when you allow homosexuals to adopt, and claim that they can legally “marry” someone of the same sex.
The lovely Miss O’Donnell is prob’ly most upset that daughter dearest went to shack up with a man instead of a woman.
August 24th, 2015 @ 9:16 am
Her father is still alive and she has four siblings. Her older brother is in the New York State Legislature and makes quite a public point of his homosexuality. She is known to make vitriolic public denunciations of her father, but they’re all rather vague (“emotions were not dealt with in any real way”). The man was a technician employed by NASA who found himself at age 35 or so widowed with five children. You might think she’d cut him some slack in retrospect but noooooooo….
Again, people’s mommy issues and daddy issues are not necessarily a function of the actual shortcomings of mommy or daddy.

When it’s your second ‘divorce’ in the span of five years, when you filed, when you’re a sexual deviant, and when you have a long history of making obnoxious remarks in public fora, the ‘bad things’ get a lot more credible.
August 24th, 2015 @ 9:22 am
This horrid woman has been permitted by the authorities to adopt five children. That tells you about what the social work departments in New Jersey are worth.
August 24th, 2015 @ 9:39 am
I see her much maligned father died this week. I dearly hope the man has found the peace his horrid daughter never gave him.
August 24th, 2015 @ 10:36 am
Third option: emancipated-minor status?
August 24th, 2015 @ 11:08 am
When you’ve got that kind of money and fame, the rules DO tend to be… a bit different.
This irks many of us in the adoption community: whereas somebody like Madonna can helicopter in to a poor country and fly out pretty much on the same day with a child, the rest of us go under a legal, financial and domestic microscope.

” tell-all memoir and call it Mommy Queerest.”
OK, now THAT’s funny.
And what was the “obscenity” he allegedly transmitted? I’m guessing he called Rosie a “dyke”, which is probably now considered obscene hate speech. My fingers just got burned while typing it.
August 24th, 2015 @ 11:45 am
Madonna’s a mess, but she is not a vicious mess. She’s adopted two children, not five. They were both adopted from abroad. Effecting the adoptions required multiple court proceedings which played out over three years.

Has the youngster been reared to earn a living? Or are we assuming the uncles will be paying the rent for the next couple of years?
August 24th, 2015 @ 11:50 am
Chelsea was adopted by O’Donnell when she was “married” to her first “wife,” Kelli Carpenter, who left O’Donnell in 2007. In 2012, O’Donnell “married” Michelle Rounds…
Simply felt like doing a little copy editing.
August 24th, 2015 @ 12:48 pm
Oddly enough, it didn’t burn my eyes to read it.
Somehow, I never heard of Miss O’Donnell being referred to as a “lipstick lesbian.”
August 24th, 2015 @ 4:41 pm
The scare quotes are entirely appropriate.
August 24th, 2015 @ 6:01 pm
Childern raised by homosexuals tend to be VERY promiscuous

I suggest you READ Moria Greyland story about being raised by her homosexual parents

[after playing out all possible outcomes for the kid]
Joshua: Greetings, Professor Falken.
Stephen Falken: Hello, Joshua.
Joshua: A strange game. The only winning move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess?

“Seems open and shut to me: Rosie is her legal mother …”
When it comes to “gay” “parents”, it seems that all that really matters is who is “gay” or what advances the agenda, for being both the biological mother and legal parent doesn’t necessarily matter.
August 25th, 2015 @ 7:58 am
I still remember that back in the day, O’Donnell was touted as “the Queen of Nice” … and that from the moment I first became aware of her, I thought, “That is not a *nice* woman.”
August 25th, 2015 @ 8:37 am
Plays the minor card, but brags about liking younger women herself
August 25th, 2015 @ 8:39 am
What if the kardashians could adopt her and find her a 25 y/o rapper to be her bf.
Or her original parents as others have suggested
August 25th, 2015 @ 9:17 am
Miss O’Donnell actually had some movie roles in which she was depicted as a nice girl; as Meg Ryan’s friend in Sleepless in Seattle comes to mind. I s’pose it just proves that she’s a capable actress, ’cause we didn’t see the evil side of her in that movie.
August 25th, 2015 @ 11:22 am
Great point!
August 27th, 2015 @ 8:50 am
And O’Donnell’s adopted daughter has fled again, this time going back to her birth mother.

Though one wonders why the birth mother lost custody in the first place.
