Slander on the Senate Floor: Harry Reid Repeats Romney Tax Accusation

Posted on | August 2, 2012 | 27 Comments

Ed Morrissey calls it “despicable and grossly irresponsible,” while Jeff Goldstein predicts there will be a harsh backlash against Reid’s tactics:

The arrogance of power can be truly astonishing to watch. Harry Reid hasn’t passed a budget in nearly four years, and has obstructed every meaningful effort to reduce the out-of-control federal deficit. For Reid — a man who has notoriously benefitted from corrupt land deals in his home state of Nevada — to be lecturing Mitt Romney on financial propriety is every bit as outrageous as Obama’s “you didn’t build that.”

UPDATE: People are wondering why I haven’t said anything about the “Harry Reid pederasty” scandal. A month or so ago, a person who had blogged at Ace of Spades HQ called my office and said, “Harry Reid is the Jerry Sandusky of Nevada!”

Now, do I know that that’s true? Well, I’m not certain. But I mean, gee whiz, that is a story you should be writing.

Not only has Reid benefited from corrupt land deals, he has engineered them, at least once being given partner shares in a group which bought property in the desert which suddenly became valuable when a new Interstate & interchange was placed nearby after a bill was amended by a certain Senator.  His son, a lackluster law student, got a $1 million+ job as a lawyer for casino unions.

When Reid first was elected to the House, he was known as “the bag man for the Vegas mob.”  Possibly the most corrupt Senator since Harrison Williams.  Crooked through and through, crooked mind, crooked heart, crooked soul.

Does this idiot really believe that Mitt Romney, who’s been interested in the presidency for at least  5 years now and probably longer, wouldn’t be smart enough to know that failing to pay his taxes would be not only criminal, but politically suicidal?

    Harry Reid is a worm.

Also updated with inquiry into charges of Harry Reid pederasty.  I am not sure where this question first came up, but I am pretty sure Harry Reid never disproved it.  Because we need to know if our Senators are molesting us.

The original slander was made away from the Senate floor – making the comment subject to legal action. By repeating the comment on the Senate floor while the Senate is in session, Reid can no longer face legal scrutiny/action.

Harry Reid has raised a good question. Unfortunately, the question raised is about Harry Reid.

An old political axiom is “Never ask a question unless you already know the answer”. So, how does Reid know that Romney didn’t pay taxes? Answer: Someone in the IRS told him, probably through the administration and/or Obama campaign (I know, they’re one and the same).

Now, pilfering someone’s tax returns is a felony (26 USC 7213) punishable up to 5 years in prison and a $5000 fine plus costs of prosecution.

So, if I were a Senator, I would accuse Reid on the floor of the Senate of being accessory to a felony and demand that the AG appoint a special prosecutor. Now, I know that’s as likely as a blizzard in August, but we’re talking political theater here.

Hold on to those feelings of revulsion for Harry, but save a bit of mental rancor for the rat we can do something about this year.
Look back to Obama’s early electoral ‘victories’.  Now obviously Mitt has no sealed divorce records to have lowlifes at a local newspaper force into the open.  So, obviously, the only thing to do is find someone lower than a Chicago newspaperman to try to force open something!
