Never trust Lindsey Graham:

Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-S.C.) decision to walk away from Senate talks on climate change and energy legislation  – at least for now – has prompted the measure’s remaining architects to scuttle Monday’s planned unveiling of the bill.
[Sen. John] Kerry praised Graham’s work on the climate effort and expressed hope that he would rejoin the initiative “once the politics of immigration are resolved,” but vowed to press ahead one way or the other.

Liberals though they could count on Graham because he has backstabbed conservatives so often. They’ve now discovered to their chagrin that he’s a bipartisan backstabber.

(Hat-tip: Memeorandum.)

I’m reminded more of why intelligence agencies never really trust double agents.

I think Graham was the one stabbed in the back. He had agreed (I suppose, here, based upon my superior reasoning skills and the psychic abilities of one of my feral cats, when she cooperates) to work with the Dems on cap-‘n’-tax, one of his designated “see how bipartisan I am I can cross the aisle on this to get things done” issues, in exchange for postponing the next immigration reform, which he would also support, until after November so as not to embarrass McCain in a touching display of the loyalty of a valet to his master.

Obama’s solemn promises being absolutely binding until he finds a better deal, poor Graham was left in the lurch when The One realized his party would win ZERO votes with cap-‘n’-tax, but might nab a few with an immigration bill even if it failed.

Lindsey can rest easy: it never gets lonely under Obama’s bus!
