They Told Us There Was Going to Be a Huge Rally at the Mall in Washington . . .

Posted on | September 12, 2010 | 24 Comments

. . . so I said, “Quick, Smitty! Let’s go to the Mall!”

We didn’t find a huge rally, although Smitty enjoyed his Starbucks coffee and was impressed by the 70% discounts at the Aeropostale fall fashion sale.

However, as dedicated citizen-journalists, we were determined to keep hunting until we found the real story . . .

This kind of sexist exploitation of women — advertised for sale in their underwear! — deserves to be exposed as misogynistic patriarchal oppression. The management of Victoria’s Secret, however, asked our undercover investigative team to leave the store.

Having failed to find the “huge rally” at the mall, we checked our directions and discovered that the event we wanted to cover was actually the 9/12 Taxpayer March from the Washington Monument to the U.S. Capitol. Tabitha Hale explained that this is what they call the “mall” in Washington.

Smitty’s just hoping they have an Aeropostale store . . .

Point of order – it tends to be far easier to sell a particular piece of merchandise when said merchandise is displayed in a used-as-intended manner. I mean; how much lingerie would be sold if it were the TrogloPundit modelling it?

Smitty’s gimme cap is on backwards.

Nothing says “I’m bald and hung up about it and can’t do anything about it and this is the best front I can manage to put on.

The flipped over pizza on the floor in the mall reminded me strangely enough about this…

Southern Poverty Law Center in complete meltdown. And Instalinked to boot.

As we left to the mall, Stacy quipped I was just standing around in my dirty underwear saying “SEE, I don’t care if you know that I don’t shop at Victoria Secret and I don’t do my laundry very damned often!”

No, Stacy, I’m not wearing any underwear. Or socks either. I hate that stuff. I AM naked, dammit, why won’t you believe me? I just want a little respect, that’s all. I’m being very sincere too, although not too sincere, since that would be deadly.

My underwear doesn’t have skid marks (because I don’t wear any)by my jeans do.

Not only am I real and lazy and really lazy, but rather than wash the dirty jeans I like to look at the dark stripes going down the middle of the inside of the pants and contemplate how shitty life can seem when seen through underwear recession complex.

    There’s a reason you’ll never see a Victoria’s Secret Speedo Catalogue. Just sayin’…

Smitty: a recession is no excuse for wearing unsightly underthings. (Or at least that’s how I justify my trips to Victoria’s Secret, but I could see how it might not be the same for men.)

Stacy ~ You are definitely onto something with this Victoria’s Secret stuff. They are definitely hiding something. I tried a little undercover reporting there myself, was going to hang out in the dressing booths trolling for sources, and they seriously overreacted. I mean, I wasn’t really going to try on those things, but if you go into a dressing room empty-handed you are only going to call attention to yourself, right?

Joe @ #6 ~ SPLC is in a perpetual state of meltdown. Morris Dees has literally made a 30+ year career for himself with a great income. All he does is exaggerate or make up Klan or “white supremacist” (which he defines as, “conservative”) threats, send out press releases and do media (= free advertising) to coincide with his fund-raising appeals to his mailing list of well-to-do guilty white leftists.

The guy didn’t even really start SPLC until the Klan threat had pretty much died out – even in the old deep South, Klan march spectators were always outnumbered by the marchers and the cops, and often provided the motivation to hold concurrent interracial “community choir” concerts. And SPLC does nothing at all besides raise money, issue press releases and phony reports, and any free media Rees can get. That’s it.

I bet the guy pockets $300K or more, not to mention all the expenses picked up by SPLC (which is basically Dees himself), to make a big noise about the 37 living active Klansmen, the youngest of whom is 79.

Just in case even his clueless donors began to notice there was no Klan anymore, Dees began to branch out in the ’80s, covering the “white supremacists” (white conservatives) and the “Patriot Movement” – the latter being the militia guys who built self-sufficient camps in rural areas and did a lot of target practice. Now, those guys did shelter and inspire at least in part McVeigh and Nichols, but the rest of them seem just to hate the government and not do anything about it. And there aren’t many of these either, and the FBI is watching them much closer than Dees can from the comfort of his office or a TV studio, which is as close as that punk’s ever been to a militia compound.

You can bet he is busily “investigating” the ties of the Patriot white supremacists to the Tea Party Movement, having already exposed that most of the attendees are patriotic and white, but he urgently needs more resources because, like, these Tea Parties are freakin’ EVERYWHERE. Please send as much as you can ASAP.
