More Predictable Than the Weather

Hurricane hysteria gives way to global-warming hype:

Was Hurricane Irene caused by global warming?

How Global Warming Is Making Hurricane Irene Worse
Thnk Progress

Global Warming’s Heavy Cost
The Daily Beast

And if you don’t buy into the hype, you’re anti-science.

Just wondering: Would I be the first to say that it’s hard to hate a hurricane that seems to be taking direct aim at James Wolcott?

Not that I am actually saying that, but if I did say it, would I be the first?

“It is not just warm water which causes hurricanes. It is the temperature difference between the ocean surface and the upper atmosphere. The higher that temperature difference, the more hurricanes will form, and the stronger they will be. Global warming models all agree that the temperatures will rise more in the upper atmosphere than at the surface. Since the upper atmosphere is cooler than the ocean surface, this means that the temperature difference will become smaller. Therefore, fewer hurricanes. And less intense hurricanes”

I guess these folks didn’t hear about the experiment at CERN which has them saying “Climate models will need to be substantially revised”

AGW is deader than a huge economy after a 787 billion dollar stim-u-fu*k.

Whenever anybody tries the appeal to authority fallacy on “climate change,” I remind them that scientists who have the facts on their side and have been truthful do not need to lie about their data, dispose of their original data, mislead on the data, alter graphics to hide data, conspire to alter findings, or risk imprisonment by criminally disposing of public documents to avoid disclosing them as required by law.

And I invite them to explain how any of those things is consistent with someone who is telling the truth and armed with facts.

For quite a while this summer — indeed, during Texas’ protracted heat wave — the jet stream was far south of its usual summertime track.

I’m sure the Sacred Oracles of Gaia can explain how global warming extends the influence of Arctic air in midsummer…

Oh, they heard. But I submit that AGW isn’t dead by a long shot.  The enlightened rely on the fact that millions of ignorant benighted  can’t possibly be smart enough to understand what’s going on. So they plow ahead with their campaign. Plus, the relentless indoctrination of  children by the educational establishment practically guarantees a fresh supply of ignoramuses to dupe.
